Today I’ve been on the Rotterdam Tram to see how light rail can work for city transport 🚊 With daytime frequencies of 4-8mins, the trams were bustling with a diverse range of passengers, utilising this fast, convenient, and safe mode of public transport. Here’s a short thread 🧵
If you’re one of those complaining about #TroopingTheColour, remember that those colours represent the sacrifice of men and women who over centuries, fought and died to protect the very freedom that allows you the luxury of sitting at home moaning about them.
Why care about Coton Orchard? It's the largest traditional orchard in our county, vital for local #wildlife. Lib/Lab want to replace it with a concrete bus road, wasting £200m+ despite less costly/damaging alternatives. 4th July, your voice can protect Nature #SaveCotonOrchard 🗳️
On this note, does @TheGreenParty have a plan on HOW to “end the use of petrol and diesel vehicles on the road by 2035”?
Will all the ICE cars/buses/lorries be scrapped?
If bought in 2027 that could mean scrapping an 8-year old vehicle?
@borofergie "The value of our shared natural environment becomes clearer with each passing year. Liberal Democrats will safeguard and enhance the environment." Except Coton Orchard it seems.
@chemistrykaren It's heartbreaking. We joined Twitter to amplify campaigners' voices and help save the remaining #wildlife habitats in #Cambridgeshire, but two years on far too few people are aware of the scale of loss to our county.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again;
Cambridge’s so-called bus station is an embarrassment to the city.
The amount of leaks in this “shelter” just shows how long it’s been neglected for 💧
Is it a wonder why public transport is so unpopular?
@lin6_thomas@CBGbusUsers Agreed. It's dirty, uncomfortable, uninviting, unhelpful, unsafe with cyclists riding through, smoky with vapes, confusing for locals as well as international visitors, and no one seems to notice or care except people who need to use it every day.

The ‘low cost’ DayRiders: £9 for adults, £6.40 for youth in the ‘Cambridgeshire Plus’ zone.
We’re making changes to some fares across the East on Sunday 21st April.
Single fares have been frozen, and we will continue to take part in the Governments £2 flat fare scheme until at least the end of June 2024.

This is what I like to call a “bus jam”
Not sure of the reason for the blockage, but my bus was stuck in Drummer St bus station for over 15 minutes!
Back to back buses all down Emmanuel St too.
