How did I get the username I use when I talk about books? So glad you asked!
My spouse is nicknamed CornMuscles, so his folks always called me Mrs. Corn.
I hoard books. Kinda like a dragon hoards gold.
So I’m MrsCornTheBookDragon
Wherever people talk books, you know.
I too am enjoying Hunter Biden being a great poster, but some people are a little too surprised that the son of a President is smart, well-informed, and good at communicating, as if they think addiction only happens to idiots
As a woman I am extremely aware the only reason I have rights is because women before me got mouthy, organized, and made herself inconvenient. Thats why I see women who uphold the patriarchy as traitors
“During the darkest days of the AIDS crisis we buried our friends in the morning, we protested in the afternoon, and we danced all night, and it was the dance that kept us in the fight because it was the dance we were fighting for.” – Dan Savage
Yes, I haven't stepped foot inside a church for the better part of a decade, but the moment someone tries to force me to use at AI at work, you best believe I'm suddenly gonna be a devout Catholic who follows church doctrine to the letter.
For me it was undiagnosed neurodivergence. I masked so hard at work every day I had no energy for me at home. My entire life was work, even though it looked like I was “resting” at home. Really I was disassociating.
In the era of #ArtificialIntelligence, when human dignity is threatened by new forms of dehumanization, ours is the pressing duty to remain profoundly human. We must lovingly safeguard the grandeur of humanity bestowed upon us and revealed in its fullness in Christ, the splendor of which no machine can ever replace. #MagnificaHumanitas

Pope Leo XIV called for robust regulation of artificial intelligence and for its developers to work for the common good rather than profit, issuing a sweeping manifesto on safeguarding humankind as the technology impacts everything from work to war. https://t.co/VSlFOkxhry
“In practice, however, technology is never neutral, because it takes on the characteristics of those who devise it, finance it, regulate it and use it.”
THANK YOU POPE LEO FOR SAYING THIS.
Time for the “technology is a tool with no inherent moral position” idea to die!
Pope Leo XIV on AI:
“Artificial intelligence needs to be disarmed. The word [disarmed] is strong I know, but deliberately chosen because this moment needs words capable of attracting attention, awakening consciences, and indicating paths forward for humanity.”
I'm being left behind by the AI revolution in the same way I was left behind when Heaven's Gate ascended to join the spaceship that was hiding behind a comet.
What in god’s name is happening in academic STEM? I was told that all the $ goes there because they do the hard stuff, meanwhile, my critical humanities ass has been, like *reading and citing and making difficult arguments* and I’ve been a long-cutting sucker this whole time?!?!?
