@Scobleizer Got my 18 Pro yesterday at this very cool Apple Store in DC. Beautiful Carnegie Library takeover. Here for the #AgeTechCollab from AARP Summit in DC. Also shot in the rain.
Thank you Claire Jacobs @reallyDrJ for sharing this in @kyleshannon's @TheAISalon. Today, thanks to Claire, I mentioned https://t.co/FYtT2lvotq in our live podcast episode recording themed AI and Older Adults featuring Kyle Shannon and @benjaminsurmi. It will show up published on https://t.co/gTij1Ce4nT as well as Apple and Spotify. Details here: https://t.co/YORohnG02k
I built this for an 80-year-old couple.
One of them has Parkinson’s.
The other is doing everything in his power to help preserve her functioning for as long as possible.
So I made them something.
For free.
It’s a simple cognitive-motor training program built around progressively more challenging arm movements—circles, reversals, alternating patterns, bilateral coordination, interruptions, sequencing, and increasingly complicated combinations of movement + attention.
This kind of cognitive-motor training has been my research world for a long time.
To be very clear: I make absolutely no claim that this treats Parkinson’s, slows Parkinson’s, or will improve anyone’s functioning.
I just built something I thought might be useful for two people I wanted to help.
And then I thought:
Why should only they get to use it?
So I put it online.
Free.
No account.
No paywall.
No sales pitch.
If you want to try it, be my guest. It stores zero data but if you don’t clear your browser, it’ll remember where you left off.

And if you know an older adult, caregiver, therapist, researcher, or simply someone who likes giving their brain and body something interesting to figure out—send it their way.
Maybe the internet can do something nice with this one.
I’m meeting them in the park in 30 minutes to review some exercises. ✌️ #FuckParkinsons

Thank you Hubert and to @kyleshannon for the heads up on this. I agree it's an excellent launch video. To @duredesign and @pggalaviz I want to make you aware of the AgeTech Collaborative from AARP. Our Rethinking Aging Club Podcast @BoomerTechTalk (and Apple/Spotify) reports on these startups and going concerns regularly. https://t.co/Goy6nXo2Te

@Scobleizer@IrenaCronin I shared today's newsletter with my community at @kyleshannon's @TheAISalon. The human side of AI is fave topic there. They also will greatly appreciate your new https://t.co/207TIF9rkk
Just in case you're having the same issue. Last few days, #LinkedIn was dropping @ tags, scrambling them when I attempted to edit and giving me repeated post failed messages. I finally switched from Chrome to Firefox and now it's working.
Of course LinkedIn would like you to use Microsoft Edge but I'm all Apple so that's not happening.
@shellypalmer Note the related article in @shellypalmer's newsletter today. If you're not already subscribed, I highly recommend https://t.co/K1i6m0MuQa
It's not surprising that @Jack was first, since he was Bluesky's initiator, funder, and board member before stepping down in May 2024.
User Sovereignty: Both BlueSky and Buzz aim to give users or organizations direct ownership over their data, identities, and rules rather than renting space from a big tech monopoly.
Both platforms avoid a single central server or company owning the entire network.
Open Source: The underlying code and protocols for both projects are open for the public to inspect, modify, or self-host.
@XelaHart Thank you Xela. "Modern Republicanism: Eisenhower practiced a middle-way political approach that balanced conservative fiscal ideas with the preservation of New Deal social programs."
