@mrdstern it's the only way we will have a better future! #yorku3

[Lindsay D @lindsay_kitchen]

@shauna_yorkplc hmm mine only allows me to take a pic 😕

[Lindsay D @lindsay_kitchen]

@shauna_yorkplc how do you get the pic in there? 😐

[Lindsay D @lindsay_kitchen]

@mrdstern the book I mentioned be a great starting point for social justice/differences around the world! #yorku3

[Lindsay D @lindsay_kitchen]

@mrdstern I find that when the question come first, a storybook is a great to engage them in open conversation and inquiry. #yorku3

[Lindsay D @lindsay_kitchen]

@mrdstern A2: we read a gr8book called "where are you going Manyoni?" A girl in Africa going to school. Spoke about sim/did from us #yorku3

[Lindsay D @lindsay_kitchen]

@mrdstern I find these conversations come up very naturally with young children #yorku3

[Lindsay D @lindsay_kitchen]

@mrdstern A1: very openly, children are much more open to respectful conversation than most adults! #yorku3

[Lindsay D @lindsay_kitchen]

@shauna_yorkplc @rendia32 I agree, no playing with food. They are eating and social!

[Lindsay D @lindsay_kitchen]

@shauna_yorkplc @StaceyComeau yes, usually whole class

[Lindsay D @lindsay_kitchen]

@shauna_yorkplc @StaceyComeau go noodle also has some great short clips for the idea of "mindfulness". #yorku3

[Lindsay D @lindsay_kitchen]

@shauna_yorkplc I've always wanted to set up a space with poses posted for self regulating. #yorku3

[Lindsay D @lindsay_kitchen]

@shauna_yorkplc in the past I've used the alphabet yoga book from scholastic, the body flash cards, cosmic kids yoga. #yorku3

[Lindsay D @lindsay_kitchen]

@StaceyComeau @rendia32 we have also had this. We call it our "mind jar"! #yorku3

[Lindsay D @lindsay_kitchen]

@rendia32 there are many! We have used yoga a lot. Open snack is great for Ss because they learn to know when they are hungry! #yorku3

[Lindsay D @lindsay_kitchen]

@shauna_yorkplc one Ss gets a sticker as she leaves, if she has made good choices. We started with a chart but now this is suffice!#yorku3

[Lindsay D @lindsay_kitchen]

@shauna_yorkplc I do think that's a valid point, but some Ss it works to help learn to regulate. Only certain children respond #yorku3

[Lindsay D @lindsay_kitchen]

@rendia32 A1: if a child responds to stickers and you discuss how they feel when making good choices, and gradually remove stickers#yorku3

[Lindsay D @lindsay_kitchen]

@rendia32 A1: Some may find it controversial but I think in some cases a sticker chart can be used to scaffold a child. #yorku3
