Powering Progress: NSCDR's Borehole Rehabilitation Efforts Illuminate a Sustainable Future
The National Steering Committee for Drought Response (NSCDR) is thrilled to share the incredible strides we've made in the rehabilitation of boreholes, transforming them into sustainable, solar-powered sources of life-giving water.
Here is a glimpse into progress.
Attached are photos capturing the remarkable progress in Kaanguni Borehole Kitui. Witness the transformation as we work tirelessly to ensure clean and reliable water access for communities facing the challenges of drought.
The Solar-Powered Revolution: In our commitment to innovation and sustainability, NSCDR has ushered in a new era by implementing solar-powered pumps at boreholes. This revolutionary approach harnesses the power of the sun to bring life to previously struggling communities. With the installation of solar panels, these boreholes are now not only resilient but also environmentally friendly.
Community Impact: These solar-powered pumps go beyond providing water; they empower communities, improve health, and contribute to the overall well-being of residents. Access to clean water is a fundamental right, and with solar-powered boreholes, we are bringing this right to the heart of communities in need.
We invite you to view the attached photos and witness the impact of your support.
Thank you @DavisShirtliff for providing solar panels and solar pumps solutions and impacting this community in Kitui.
Your collaboration has been instrumental in making these initiatives a reality.

Led by the Gov of Kiambu County, H.E Dr. @KWamatangi EGH, & joined by our trustee @patriciaithau, Safaricom PLC's Director of Sustainable Business & Social Impact, Karen @kbasiye, and Jemimah Waititu, we were pleased to break ground for a maternal & newborn unit at Kigumo Hosp.
The KES 47 million investment is set to benefit thousands of area residents by constructing and equipping a modern facility that will offer enhanced services to women and children as well as minor surgeries to other patients. #TransformingLives
Construction of the facility is part of our efforts to curb maternal and infant mortality by partnering with county governments to enhance service delivery. #TransformingLives
