@JenRobichaux@YIMBYLAND Georgetown has had Uber voucher program for over a year, guessing their per ride cost is less than CapMetro.

@lights_jungle@LoewyLawFirm Correct in thoery, if were able to legally pay same amount in AISD property taxes & state allowed it to all remain in the AISD coffers we would not have a deficit. But sadly as it stands now, a district can only keep a certain amount of taxes, any overages goes to State.
@KendallGPace@statesman@AustinISD@HeathKeri Has anyone brought up that just 2 years ago the Austin voters agreed to raise their AISD taxes by $170M a year of which only $41M stays local but it all went to teacher and staff pay increases, nothing to address the current budget woes.
@lights_jungle@LoewyLawFirm not legally.... If Robinhood went away, Austin ISD woukd have the exact same budget problems but Austin tax payers would pay half as much in school property taxes.
@JenRobichaux Isn't there separate lawsuit or big issue that the PC 20% property tax goes to city's M&O budget which can not go for capital projects and long term debt repayments?
@friedshrimpoboy@LoewyLawFirm Robinhood recapture is completely separate & incredibly unfair bucket of money, and the most un-Texan tax I can think of. If there was no recapture AISD would still have the exact same amount of money coming in to operate.
@ZacharySisson3@UrbanCourtyard ha, nothing like Chicago 'people' trying to make some point by picking out one of the best small -town downtowns around.
@UrbanCourtyard@VikChatterjee Lockhart square has zero vacancies, that old Google maps showed vacancy because it was in process of being converted into the coolest bowling alley / sushi concept in the country!
Promise nothing like it around Chicago.

@Jason_A_Scharf I didn't have $1M for a logo but I think a great marketing campaign could be created here. Austin is actually building incredible physical things now.
