The most-disliked trailer of Christopher Nolan’s career comes in response to casting Lupita Nyong’o as Helen of Troy.

Let me explain why the disapproval is the rational part of this story, and why the confidence of the people waving it away is not.

The defence for casting Nyong’o as Helen of Troy is shallow. “These are made-up stories,” says the online commenter. “They can be remade however we want.”

The people making this argument believe that distinguishing myth from history is a display of intelligence.

A clean example of the Dunning-Kruger effect, the confidence of someone who has learned that a thing is invented without ever asking what the invention is for.

History records one man, once. Myth records what a thousand men held in common.

The myth is the self-portrait a civilization paints of its own best self.

This is why it is not merely a tale for entertainment.

Homer’s Odyssey is a time capsule for a culture, the encoded values and examples that tell a people what it means to belong to them.

The Democrats are very manipulative and positioning themselves as these "saviors" or "heroes" against the big bad Republicans who are unfairly targeting Haitians/Syrians.

They do this banking on the fact that their voters are uneducated and forget that their original argument to let Haitians/Syrians in was that it was meant to be "temporary." The program is literally called TPS (Temporary Protected Status).

The Democrats moved the goalposts, not the Republicans, and now the Republicans are being labeled as evil when the Democrats knew their status was meant to be temporary all along.

The master plan is to get these people into the country through any means necessary, get their families hooked on welfare, and create little Democrat voters out of them. People are too emotionally reactive to understand that these programs fail our citizens.
