Game-Based Assessment and my original beliefs. In the beginning of the #CEP813, I focused on the make up of assessments and how they can measure learning. I realize that you cannot measure learning.

My understanding on semiotic domains. Since I do not teach a specific subject, i chose foreign language as the semiotic domain. Internal grammar: meanings, pronunciation, body language, tone, etc. External grammar: ability to communicate fluently in that language #CEP813

Externally, the player shows how he/she worked with the language and uses method of inquiry and cognitive science to stay alive and become successful in his/her fantasy path.

Games with procedural rhetoric with a semiotic domain: SIMS. This is a simulation video game and role-playing game with an internal world of rules and embodied experiences where critical thinking and real-world interrelations exist. #CEP813

I can see the different ways to provide feedback to my students through immediate feedback or feedback offered later on. Both are effective in moving learning forward and offering suggestions for improvement.

This activity helped me see different techniques to assessing understanding. For example, I can see a student's understanding of strategies through multiple choice answers and encourage them to prove the strategies through written response.
