One of the things that makes me sad about the gentrification of Mile End is that it's so much quieter than it used to be https://t.co/mXyK5n3ywR
It’s Lammas Day!
In the traditional rural calendar, August 1st signalled the annual shift from planting crops to grazing animals. It was the last day on which grass was cut for hay, and the day grazing could commence and the hunting season began.
The breathtaking 78ft statue of Queen Tassi Hangbe who instituted the legendary Dahomey Amazons.
Located across the road from the presidency in Cotonou, it was unveiled earlier today as part of Benin Republic’s independence celebration culminating in the anniversary on August 1.

@queervengeance another question is "have you been arrested/gotten in trouble with the law" to which i answer: no, but i am WHITE!!!!!!
no kind of acknowledgement that a poc may have different exp with cops bc of racism, and that any "weird" traits are more likely to be criminalised
@queervengeance a particular thing that just boils my blood: on the adhd self assessment questionaire is the question "do you often have trouble sitting still, eg in meetings"
meetings??? this is aimed at a white-collar worker (and dont get me started on how its all centred around labour)
