@atrupar And 72% of recipients are employed. 45% of whom work full time and 27% part time. Aging parents, grandparents, and persons requiring nursing care will be hurt the most as Medicaid, not Medicare, covers long term care facilities.
@atrupar I live in Indiana. Medicaid covers 41% of all births, 37% of all children, 44% of working aged adults with disabilities and 66% of all nursing home care in the state. 75% of the spending is federally funded($13.1B) Cuts will hurt the most vulnerable & close heath facilities.
@Acyn Unless they’re their aging mother’s caregiver. She would probably prefer her son can stay with her. Or maybe he who cares for an adult special needs sibling. Or any other number of reasons why someone would live at home. Or why someone would have Medicaid as assistance.
@ChoosakBurr@JeremiahW2044@atrupar This part. I don’t understand what people don’t get about this. And not even just regarding those with Medicaid. Literally true for everyone. Regular health checks and preventative medical care reduces cost for both the patient, hospitals and health facilities and taxpayers.
@atrupar So she’s also going to “go after” everyone with a radar detector in their car or who posts on those google maps updates of where speed traps are? Orrrr?
@atrupar “Access” is a whole myriad of things. People who lose ins. will put off reg/preventative care making care later more $. Or will nvr go even if they’re very ill out of fear of cost. It doesn’t just mean “there’s a Dr and hospital somewhere in this country figure it out”.
@atrupar Tell that to families whose parent or grandparent has no nursing home or long term care facility to care for them to because they’ve closed. Or the family that has an emergency but their local hospital closed and the next hospital they could get to was too far.
@atrupar Or the person that was in a MVA but instead of having a local hospital nearby to be treated they now have 2be airlifted across the state or across state lines bc it’s closer. Where they’re out of network.

@RepJasonSmith@FoxNews There won’t be much relief for seniors when nursing homes and long term care facilities reduce staff, or close. As only Medicaid reimburses for long term care, not Medicare, hundreds of billions in cuts to Medicaid will absolutely impact rural hospitals & nursing homes.
@BlanchAngela@arealmermaid2@AnnieForTruth The other thing is, if nursing homes close, it may not matter if someone qualified for x,y, or z for coverage if there’s no where go. Same with hospitals. Private insurance won’t do much good if there’s no where to be seen. These cuts would be awful for rural communities.
@arealmermaid2@AnnieForTruth Tbf this bill also cuts Medicare. The senate version makes $930B in cuts over 10 years to Medicaid, Medicare, and the ACA according to a Congressional Budget Office report from Saturday. Which would result in an increase of nearly 12 million *more* uninsured people by 2034.
@ranavni@BulwarkOnline & y are the folks who are @ work just doing their jobs being targeted & not the people that hire them?? Snatching up & punishing folks for trying to provide for their families when the only reason they’re there in the 1st place is bc *they were hired to be*. Make it make sense.
@GovParsonMO @GovParsonMO please do the right thing and DO NOT execute an innocent man. #marcelluswilliams deserves justice, he deserves life. There is overwhelming evidence his case was constitutionally unfair. Do not let the state kill this man.
