Had one of those busy, bouncy days where you don't really get time to stop. I was driving home from voluteering at Squirrels and couldn't stop smiling. Loving your job (and adjacent activities) is really a gift!
Last day at current school tomorrow. Today a parent gave me a card and the message inside made me cry and also reminded me why I love my job. So bittersweet to be leaving a school which means so much to me to return to the school which started it all.
A defining moment today when during assembly the children were reintroduced to me now as a teacher. Lots of smiles and waves from children, then the voice of a child I used to support "she is 37"... ice broken, nerves squashed... she wasn't wrong!!!
Three weeks left of term, three weeks with my first ever class. I've been in bits this week writing reports and reflecting on our shared journey. Thank you to every teacher my own children have had.
@theprimaryhead This year we've put them into our PP's to signpost to how the lesson connects. Our EOU assessment is open book so the intention is the signposting will help.
@CensoredHead Same for my Y6 daughter. However my Y8 son didn't even get an open evening. First time in the main building was his first day in September thanks to covid. He has thrived thanks to the provision put in place to address the situation. No reason to think that won't occur again.
@NEUnion@GillianKeegan I switched unions to strike, I fully support the strikes but I worry about this. As an ECT1 moving schools for ECT2 I worry about transition day. As a parent of a year 6 child who will potentially miss secondary transition day I worry.
Phonics in KS2 for children who still need it. Any tips? I've done phonics extensively in EYFS and KS1, does it run the same with a class sized group in KS2?
@media_walsh @FunkyPedagogy My brother's school did battle of the books, teachers advocated for their favourite book and children voted on the one they wanted to read most
@UnofficialOA Signed up for a new (private as my NHS stopped being NHS) dentist who said they don't do out of school appointments or weekends. Must be nice.
I keep thinking about going for my MA. I loved my lecturers on my FD, undergrad and PGCE but I'm also moving schools in September so am I mad to consider it?!?
What a crazy week! I am so grateful for all the support I've received. Full circle moment when I accepted a teaching job at the school that inspired me to pursue teaching. Bittersweet to leave an amazing school but excited for the next step.
