I’ve put a load of my most popular files together in a Dropbox folder. Let me know if you’d like the link. Can I also ask that you share this post pretty please 🙏 (as it seems the only way to get anything seen nowadays!). 😊
It's the Easter holidays (2026), and I have two copies of Primary Reading Simplified to give away!
For your chance to win, simply retweet this tweet *or* reply below with the name of a children's book that you love.
(Or you can do both to double your chance of winning!)
🧵I sense a long overdue shift in approaches to KS1. For quite some time, the move into KS1 has been abrupt & jarring with many v. formal approaches for children only just five. For those long(er) in the tooth, this felt frankly wrong,as old money infant teaching was sidelined.
Can I be clear again that if you inspect & you work in a school, or Trust, you are part of the problem. @Ofstednews are toxic to schools & believe me, you **WILL NOT** change if from the inside; you are just perpetuating the problem.
School leaders: STOP INSPECTING.
Ruth Perry Inquest Day 2
Today has already been so much harder. Quote of the day from OI Gareth Evans; during inspections "we more often see people crying than not", so somebody upset is just par for the course, in an OFSTED inspection, apparently. More later...
Will stop spamming your feeds once you’ve all shared, signed and we’ve hit 100,000. Too many of my colleagues are struggling and it’s not ok - please keep speaking up for what is right.

I know I'm like a broken record about Ofsted at the moment & I'm sorry if I annoy anyone or cause offence. I care deeply about the well-being of my colleagues & creating the best environment for my kids and 100% believe that the whole accountability process could be done so much better. We now have overwhelming evidence of the reality of what it does to colleague, it's simply not ok & cannot be allowed to continue. We are facing unprecedented challenges & our profession, like so many other public services, is struggling on, unlike ever before - we all deserve more respect, kindness & support. I'm so glad that more & more people are doing the very difficult/right thing & speaking up, those likes and retweets absolutely make a difference & I can feel the tide turning. I, for one, won't stop doing so until things change for the better &, for all of us, I hope the now inevitable changes come sooner rather than later.
The latest teachers strike in England is today. 3 mins on what's happened to teachers' pay since 2012. The average teachers' salary has reduced in real terms - and more so than some other professions. Produced by Michael Cox, Rob England, Robert Cuffe. https://t.co/Kg3nSo3agh
Ruth Perry’s sister has noted that this is stuck around the 30 thousand mark. There must be 100,000 people on here who think Ofsted should be reviewed. Sign and share. https://t.co/a8cyyV1U1e
So now we see the value of education.
£1000, before tax, and a below inflation increase for next year of 4.5%.
Not fully funded.
Less than fire service, doctors, railway workers and the offer to teachers in Wales and Scotland.
That’s how little they value education.
We’re floating into February with a cracking competition we know you’re going to LOVE and it’s open to members and non-members alike! @CollinsPrimary
