🚨This week, Ambassador Peter Thomson, @UN Secretary General's Special Envoy for the Ocean, issued a urgent call to leaders around the world to step up financial commitments to protect Earths's coral reefs.
#Coralreefs, which support over 25% of all marine life and provide livelihoods for over a billion people worldwide, are under unprecedented threat. Scientists warn we are in the midst of the fourth global mass bleaching event, driven by climate change, with approximately 80% of the world’s coral reefs already affected.
As Ambassador Thomson declared, “Our generation must be the one to right the wrongs we have inflicted on nature. There is no excuse for inaction.”
He urged leaders to treat this as a planetary emergency, calling for bold investments and innovative partnerships to reverse this trajectory before it is too late.

To meet our net zero goals we must invest in reliable, affordable critical energy transition minerals.
But simply ramping up extraction is not an option. We need a future energy system that is environmentally sustainable, longer lasting and truly just.
