@ReadingShanahan Do you mean letter sounds, letter names, or both when you say, “In other words, for some reason, the inclusion of letters in a PA curriculum has a multiplier impact on its outcome.” This is a hot topic these days.
@twwilliamsABC@EFrackelton@ebeard328@ReadingShanahan I think those books fall under the category of decodable. There are a some leveled readers where the words with untaught spelling patterns are there but are limited & those words repeat. new words like that are introduced slowly. I wonder if those aren’t controlled vocabulary?
The new kid said,“Hi.” The class said,“Welcome to our family.”
The new kid said,“I hate school.” The class said,“You’ll love ours.”
The new kid said,“I can’t.” The class said,“You will.”
The new kid said,“I have no friends.” The class said,“You do now.”
Teach kids to ♥️ kids.

@ReadingShanahan Dr. Shanahan, I have followed your blog and twitter feed for a long time. These platforms provide a wealth of information for teachers wanting to be informed, so thank you for this!! Is there a reasonably priced way for teachers to access the actual articles referenced?
@briggslcp@PATSTONE55@dmounty14@PamelaSnow2 From what I read, it isn’t unusual to see them ordered by author’s who oppose them. Researchers who state that proficient readers use all knowledge available to them simultaneously do not order the cueing systems.
