I went out with two of my colleagues… One of them wanted to get something from the store, so she asked if we needed anything. I said yes, I wanted a banana.
She got me the banana, which was £0.70 … 70 PENCE.

She got back to the car, before I could even ask how much it was, she said, “You’re giving me £0.70.”

I opened my banking app and asked for her account details. She said she couldn’t accept 70 pence into her account and wanted cash. 😭

I said, “Aunty, I don’t have cash.”

She insisted she wanted cash. That was how we started dragging it out. At that point, my other colleague, who was sitting in the car with us, was getting irritated with all the back and forth, so she checked her bag. Luckily, she had £1 coins and gave it to me.

I gave her the £1 and asked for my £0.30 change. She said she didn’t have it and would credit me later.

I told her I wouldn’t accept 30 pence inside my beautiful bank account, and that was how we started dragging it out until she angrily returned the £1 to me.

Three days later was my birthday. I heard from her friend that she loved Nigerian jollof rice, so I cooked rice and gave everyone a plate each and skipped her.

Let me tell you how I did that:

While I was serving everyone a plate of Jollof rice, I gave her one plate to pass it to the lady sitting beside her then I moved to the other person..
I could see the pain on her face, and that gave me joy for the rest of the month.

Petty? Yes.
Do I regret it? Absolutely not
