The Truth about Transgender Athletes
There is so much misinformation being spread on Twitter and by many Republicans concerning 1) Transgender women playing female sports, and 2) what Joe Biden's stance on the issue is. I want to address a few things here:
- Republicans want a blanket ban on transgender athletes playing sports with students from the gender they identify as. Yet, studies show that males and females are no different from a strength/speed standpoint until they are somewhere between 11-14 years old.
- Biden wants to prohibit blanket bans and would like to instead allow schools to have discretion to limit the participation of transgender students, if the school concludes that including transgender athletes could undermine competitive fairness or potentially lead to sports-related injuries.
- This would allow for elementary-aged kids to play as the gender identity of their choice since hormones are not at play yet, while also allowing high schools and colleges to make rules to ensure that sports are played fairly (i.e. testosterone tests, etc.).
- What so many people don't realize is that it would be unfair for a transgender athlete with lower levels of testosterone than most females to play with male athletes.
- Unfortunately there is no full-proof solution. We need to take time to have more studies performed. We know the mental impact it can take on transgender students who are alienated. We also know that at certain ages male hormones would make it unfair for some transgender women to play with other females.
- Maximum inclusivity without harming women is the stance that the vast majority of Democrats, including Joe Biden take. That's where I am on the issue as well.
NEWS: In response to the Texas ruling that blocks FDA approval of the abortion pill Mifepristone, Governor Maura Healy of Massachusetts has requested health care providers to begin stockpiling it.
"Here in Massachusetts, we are not going to let one extremist judge in Texas turn back the clock on this proven medication and restrict access to care in our state."
The Governor has also issued an Executive Order that confirms protections for medication abortion under existing state law.
Drop a 💙 if you agree all Governors should follow her example.
JUST IN: By a unanimous 36-0 tally, Rep. Justin Jones has just been reappointed to the legislature.
Drop a 💙 if you agree they should also reinstate Justin Pearson quickly.
In a stunning turn of events, a judge has temporarily blocked a new Wyoming law that would have classified almost all abortions in the state as felonies. But what makes this decision particularly noteworthy is that the judge used a rule established by Republicans themselves to do it.
This rule, which was added to the state's constitution in 2012 as a reaction to then-President Barack Obama, was intended to prevent the government from meddling in healthcare matters - an effort primarily aimed at blocking the Affordable Care Act.
So, in a strange twist of fate, the rule meant to thwart Obama's healthcare agenda has now been used to stop an abortion law in its tracks.
Thank you, Obama!
The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.
The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.
BREAKING: We just won a temporary restraining order protecting early abortion access in Texas for now.
Every day that clinics can remain open will save countless people from the life-altering risks and consequences of forced pregnancy.
Just so we're clear: the pregnancy that ends up in the wrong spot, like the fallopian tube? The one that will NEVER turn into a baby and will rupture and kill your wife, daughter, or sister? Terminating that fetus is also an abortion, and they want to ban those, too.
Hell no. Fire up the airline app like everybody else and book your seats together. If you can’t, take another flight. I chose my seat on purpose, do the same.

I want to be done with this story but the fact that the NFL publicly railroaded and suspended the best player in the history of the sport over something fifth grade science debunks is still as ridiculous as it was back then.
