Saw this horse poo in the Forest on Wednesday.
Just happened to be host to Poronia Punctata, one of the rarest fungus species in Europe (the white nails on the right). In 1992, it was actually on an endangered list.
Just imagine if this had been rocking horse poo.
There are over 1,000 mapped ponds in the New Forest, which support a wide variety of wetland wildlife. These ponds occur across all habitat types, creating a patchwork of varied, clean freshwater habitats otherwise lost from the rest of lowland England.

Please remember if you're out walking this easter to keep your dogs under close control and #keeptothetracks! 🙏
Your dogs may be friendly but the animals 🐎 🐄 grazing in the forest don't know this and can become frightened!

The amount of #dog waste found on the #NewForest & the risks it can pose to wildlife are of great concern for the local community. We're putting up additional signage & asking visitors to pick up their dog waste & dispose of it in a nearby bin or take it home.
#CareForTheForest
We’ve been trialling different signs in our car parks to remind people of their responsibility to clear up their dog’s mess. Please help us share this important message. 🙏

Returning to @NewForestNPA after decade to see a project that has created a meandering stream to replace a straight drain. Wonderful to witness such nature based solutions benefiting wildlife and landscape
If you live within an area accessible to #NewForest livestock 🐎 🐄 🐖 please keep rubbish 🗑️ and recycling ♻️ inside your gate on collection day.
By doing this you'll help stop animals being drawn to the roads to eat and drink items they shouldn't.
Today is the start of #groundnestingbirds breeding season these birds are rare & the #NewForest is a vitally important habitat for them from March until August please keep to the main tracks & keep dogs under close control @newforestnpa@engnewforest #realnewforest#newforestcode
Fun engagement about a serious issue: we've been out chatting to #NewForest dog walkers today about why picking up your pet's poo is so important for livestock & human health #bagandremove
