The loss?…..yes it sucked. It pissed me off…..for about a week…not the whole offseason. Five years from now….Bears fans will ask if we remember the 21-3 loss. “Yup” (and that’s about the extent of emotion invested) We’ve all moved on already. Looking ahead to this year. If it crosses even a mm in the zone at the front of the plate….its a strike. If it goes out of the zone after it travels the length of the plate at any point it’s still a strike as it was in the zone at the front of the plate.
Thus if it’s out of the zone at the front of the plate and enters the zone at any point near the back edge of the plate…(backdoor slider) it’s still a strike.

If the ball is anywhere in that 3D strike zone from the dimensions of the plate…..and dimensions of the hitters strike zone (knees to chest for example) it is going to be ruled a strike by ABS as it should be.

There are 12 Hawkeye cameras throughout any park that has ABS that make the strike zone a 3D area.
