It’s hard to fear what you can’t feel. For 120 minutes audiences of #Netflix’s House of Dynamite get a foundational education (despite a few Holywood literary licenses) on the realnness of the #nuclear threat. It’s no longer just Russia https://t.co/oqLIuzUlnW
@SenTimKaine Basically make GOP own premium increases is the strategy? Even if 13 R’s vote for subsides, why would Johnson act on it in House? We are relying on Motion to Discharge? Don’t see how this solves the policy problem or political problem.
Solution is obvious-ish. D’s vote on CR that has trigger to put into place subsidies extension unless what you propose as “reforms” of ACA does not pass before January 1st. Either way, Trump gets to claim that he (alone) saved Obamacare or “Trumpcare.”
I’m not sure how much clearer I can be, but let me give it a try:
I am willing to sit down with Democrats to discuss the growing unaffordability and unsustainability of Obamacare.
It’s a system they created, but I’m happy to hear them out. Heck, I’m even willing to give them a vote.
Today. Tomorrow. Next week. You name it.
But there’s one condition: End the Schumer Shutdown.
I will not negotiate under hostage conditions, nor will I pay a ransom. Period.
As we enter week two of the shutdown, the quickest way to reopen is to “Make Obamacare Great Again” in the eyes of Trump; convince him that he alone saved the ACA from Obama and “sleepy Joe” and Hill R’s will follow along - as they repeatedly have done https://t.co/YHyVFIbJx4
Anyone else see job descriptions on LinkedIn that have a low bar for "ideal qualifications," and then out of nowhere, spring a very specific need?
✅ Works well with others
✅ Meets deadlines
✅ Poddy trained
and then...
❌ Experience in human space flight
so close.
Exciting to see this important project.
@BarclayDavidP played a key role in our @FTC work that uncovered & took on patent cheating by big pharmaceutical firms, ultimately lowering the cost of inhalers from hundreds of dollars down to $35 for millions of Americans.
@ChrisMurphyCT what I don't get is that there's 40% or more R votes in those States. "To get back at Democrats, we are going to punish tens of millions of our own voters." You can't bemoan human consequences of a shutdown by topping off the pain. Or at least it seems silly.
@matthewstoller In fairness that's not the only demand: restoration of $860 billion Medicaid cuts and protection from OMB rescissions/pocket-vetos. Politically it makes sense, insurers are sending premium amounts for CY 2026. For 20 + million insured, 75% increases will pressure Rs to deal.
