As a fairly secular Jew from a mixed-faith family, I’m primed to understand the complexities and nuance of Jewish Christmas, writes @lizcsommer https://t.co/CuHtDBZDMh
The @lapdcommission continues to facilitate more police interaction, defending and getting funding sources for "community policing" without ever addressing the violence inherent to all police programs; the surveillance, the displacement, the incarceration, the death. #LAPCFails
On @lapdcommission agenda this week is more funding for the "Safe Neighborhoods" grant, which funds LAPD OT hours for continued heavy patrol, surveillance and occupation of neighborhoods in 77th and Southeast division areas and uses this heavy presence to justify more #LAPCFails
This week the @lapdcommission will talk about the murder of one of their own framed as a "training accident," in the wake of a lawsuit alleging sexual harassment by one of their own resulting in a $4 million payout of taxpayer $$. Policing is poison inside and out. #LAPCFails
The “Housing for Hires” program championed by @lapdcommission's resident developer @SteveSoboroff is another of many conflicts of interest as he uses his position (as intended) to expand the violence of the LAPD at the expense of those most harmed. https://t.co/vsVQcoVDGU
Nearly 3/4 of respondents also agreed that LAPD racially profiles and targets Black people, nearly half support redirecting funds from LAPD, and a third still support a complete dismantling of LAPD. Ppl want options the police don't provide. #LAPCFails https://t.co/H5xzKzpK4r
A recent survey by LMU’s Center for the Study of LA found that 75% of those polled prefer to see more LAPD officers patrolling their neighborhood.
In the coming weeks we will bring you more information from this important survey.

Every year LAPD kills a disproportionate # of folks in crisis, while more $$ goes to police and not to community healthcare for families. I reject funding for police for any response to folks in mental health crisis, and demand investment in actual community care. #LAPCFails
Last week, @lapdcommission ruled that officers who killed #EvelynDelReal and #GrishaAlaverdyan in 2021 acted 'within policy', reminding us how normalized it is for LAPD to kill. Year by year, LAPD continues to be the most murderous department. in the US. #LAPCFails

The @LAPDHQ continues to take money from the city budget, facilitated by the @lapdcommission and City Council, under the guise of data analysis, de-escalation, situational awareness training, etc. but the outcome is the same for community members - continued violence. #LAPCFails
In the last week @LAPDHQ shot at two people in Los Angeles, killing one and wounding another. LAPD continues to be the most murderous law enforcement agency in the US, with its officers shooting at people 25 times, and killing 11 people in less than eight months. #LAPCFails
LAPD’s policy empowers @lapdcommission to legitimize surveillance via “Acquisition of Information Systems and Technologies Review and Evaluation Requests” (which LAPD calls AISTRER) and Technology and Data Privacy Reports (TUDPR). They love hiding violence behind acronyms.
Earlier this summer, over two dozen groups representing the communities who face the most harm from this policy vehemently warned LAPD against a new policy on surveillance tech. No one asked for this: https://t.co/gK5WsiifcL
ANNOUNCEMENT: Over two dozen community groups in Los Angeles are rejecting LAPD's proposal to create a Community-Police Advisory Board for surveillance technology. https://t.co/CbZ0xoQY0r
On Friday LAPD unveiled a new policy on surveillance technology, designed to secure cover for their racist violence. We've been mobilizing against this sham proposal for months, and @lapdcommission votes this Tuesday. Take action w/ @LAPCFails toolkit! https://t.co/YXxmYMhgOD
The @lapdcommission is a rubber stamp body, meant to legitimize violent, anti-Black policing through a guise of "reform" and "oversight." New policies aren't better policies, they are updated guidelines for LAPD to continue to enact violence as social control. #LAPCFails
LAPD continues to shoot and kill individuals with mental illness, including the shooting of Jermaine Petit in his community of Leimert Park this July 18th. These devastating attacks on the disabled community by police must stop. We need unarmed crisis response. #LAPCFails
