Watch this and you’ll understand why they’re trying to silence him. There’s nothing at all objectionable to what he’s saying. They can’t even fall back on saying it’s antisemitic. But because he supports the Palestinian people, he must be silenced.
Macklemore said, “…every single human being that walks this earth deserves to know safety and peace before they know the sound of violence…”
The Israel-American Council is big mad.
Solidarity and all respect to @macklemore ✊🏼
To the Zionist lobby if you call out genocide you're labelled a terrorist - meanwhile they're the ones cheering on a genocide and war crimes.
Freedom for all oppressed people.
Tiocfaidh ár lá!
Thinking the phrase "Free Palestine" is anti-Jewish is just like thinking "Black Lives Matter" is anti-white.
If you see another person's freedom as a threat to you in any way that's your problem.
This is what got Macklemore cancelled. This is what he said word-for-word. Antisemitism? You be the judge.
“A big part of the reason why I wanted to do this tour in the first place is so I could stand up in stadiums like this and say two words that are very near and dear to my heart: Free Palestine. I said, ‘Free Palestine!’ I want those words to be loud and clear, so that people all the way in Gaza to the occupied West Bank know that we have not forgotten about them.“
I have an 11-year-old daughter, her name is Sloan, she’s here tonight. And if any of you guys are parents, then you know that that love that you have for your kids cannot be put into words, right? I want to see her grow up, I want to see her go to school, to fall in love, to figure out meaning, purpose, joy, her existence on this planet. I want it to be the most beautiful possible. And I think that every single human being that walks this earth deserves that exact same feeling. To know safety and peace before they know the sound of violence, to know the sound of laughter on a playground before planes and bombs, for parents to be able to say bye to their kids in the morning and not have to wonder if this is going to be the last time they kiss their child goodbye.“
And if I let that fear I felt on the plane yesterday stop me from speaking my heart in order to keep my own comfort and the audience’s comfort, that is the day I no longer continue to be on stage. So, I say, ‘Free Palestine!’ I say, free America, free Cuba to the Congo to Sudan to Iran, and all the people in America who have to live in fear because of this terrorist organization ICE.”
An awake working class is the only thing that has ever genuinely threatened concentrated power.
Not elections, which are managed.
Not journalism, which is owned.
Not protest, which is tolerated at the level where it's symbolic and suppressed at the level where it isn't.
A working class that understands, clearly, collectively, across the lines of race and nationality and religion that were drawn specifically to divide it, what is actually happening and who is actually responsible.
That is the threat.
That is why so much energy goes into making sure it doesn't happen.
The racism isn't incidental to the economic project.
The xenophobia isn't a distraction from the real politics.
The division is the politics.
Keep them fighting each other and they never look up.
Keep them looking at the border and they never read the trade agreement.
Keep them afraid of each other and they never ask who benefits from the fear.
I, Kevin Rowland (the son of Irish immigrants) and the main songwriter of ‘Come On Eileen,’ am disgusted to learn that Nigel Farage has used our song to make his entrance for his party conference. Myself, and all of Dexys are passionately against Farage’s politics.
@ByDonkeys .
Males think they're brave enough to fight a gorilla but in reality they’re not even brave enough to tell their friend to stop making women uncomfortable.
