Hudson once again perfectly captures Shane’s inner thoughts and feelings: the irritation and hurt over Ilya’s proposal, and then the happiness and relief when Ilya tells him he never wants to let him go. give him an award NOW.
people are starving for well-written, well-executed queer shows that don’t spoon-feed their audience; that don’t end in tragedy yet still engage with serious topics; and that have cast and crew who are genuinely passionate about the story and the characters
this. this entire scene. not being in the book. it may be my favorite change from book to screen. it fleshes out ilya so well and we actually see how moscow effected ilya as he was grieving
three consecutive gunshots to the stomach, head, and heart. absolutely nothing could have prepared me for those cut scenes. i was crying 6 minutes into the episode.
@yrs_on_purpose In the books he decides that he’s not going back to Russia , he decides to give the condo to his brother bc he saw no reason to ever go back, or not anytime in the near or far future . So the packing was for Svetlana

just buried his father, cut his brother off, admitted his love, watched helplessly as his lover was knocked out cold on the ice and taken away, his team throwing punches, and now his high-as-balls lover was stressing him tf out. give this man a cigarette

“it’s always you” is my favourite added line. it perfectly encapsulates their relationship. no matter what has happened or how much time has passed, it was always shane for ilya and ilya for shane
