The ‘Colchester Sphinx’ which was found in the garden of the General Hospital at Colchester in 1821. Dating to the 1st century AD, the sculpture was probably part of a tomb. Now part of the collections at Colchester Castle. 📸 My own. #FindsFriday#Colchester#RomanBritain
Did you know, those little bees you see in the evening sitting on flowers are old bees.
Old & sick bees don't return to the hive at the end of their day.
They spend the night on flowers, and if they have the chance to see another sunrise, they resume their activity by bringing pollen or nectar to the colony.
They do this sensing that the end is near.
No bee waits to die in the hive so as not to burden the others.
So, next time you see an old little bee sat upon a flower as the night closes in...
...thank the little bee for her life long service.
Four years after going missing, a cat named Nacho was finally reunited with his owner.
After escaping through a door left open by a burglar, Nacho disappeared without a trace. Despite the years that passed, his owner never gave up searching for him.
Four years later, the man happened to come across an orange cat and noticed a small mark on its left ear. That’s when he realized it was Nacho.
The moment became even more emotional when Nacho immediately walked over to him after hearing his owner's voice.
After surviving on the streets for four years, Nacho finally returned home. ❤️🐾

My mother was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's when she was 57 years old.
As her condition gradually worsened, my father told us that he wanted to take care of her, just as she had taken care of us.
He kept her at home for as long as he could.
Most nights he only slept 2 or 3 hours, making sure she was okay, changing her sheets, her clothes, bathing her, but he never complained.
When she had to move to a full-time care facility, her love and dedication never stopped.
He visited her every day. Despite the presence of the nurses, he continued to help her: lifting her, feeding her, washing her, and overseeing every detail of her care.
He did this for ten years.
I have no complaints. No anger. Only pure love and devotion.
My mother passed away on March 22, 2016. My father was there by her side.
I was impressed by what I saw. He is truly special, and I am so lucky to be able to call him Dad.
How am I feeling today? Well...
I got rice cooking in the microwave. I got a three day beard I don't plan to shave.
You know the rest.
It would be a great day to let Lucy come home.

Please retweet to help AURORA FIND A HOME – 11 YEARS OLD 🌸 May e able to re home nationally, see details below #England#Wales#Scotland#UK
Beautiful Aurora is searching for a calm and loving forever home where she can enjoy all the comfort, care, and love she deserves in her golden years. 💕
Aurora may be a senior lady, but she still enjoys getting out and about, exploring new places, and spending quality time with her people. She walks beautifully on the lead and is an absolute pleasure to take out for gentle adventures.
At the moment, Aurora is a little unsteady on her back legs, so she will need shorter, slower walks while she gradually rebuilds the muscle in her back end. Despite this, she remains bright, loving, and eager to enjoy life.
Although Aurora is absolutely fine around other dogs when out and about, she would prefer to have her own space at home and is therefore looking for a home where she can be the only dog in the household.
Aurora knows her basic commands, is very food motivated, and still enjoys learning for tasty treats. She is a gentle, loyal soul who would make a truly wonderful companion for someone looking for a loving best friend by their side. 🐾
Could you offer Aurora the peaceful forever home she’s been waiting for? 🏡❤️

Every day, I see numerous posts about people’s cats passing away and how painful it is. I like each post because I feel each pet deserves it.
Today it’s my turn. After 4 years, our adopted rescue kitten KITTY passed away today. It was the hardest decision we’ve ever had to make, but we know he’s now pain-free and running happily. He was the sweetest, kindest boy. My posts never get many views, but if you could look at the pics of our sweet guy, I’d really appreciate it.
The box turtle in the road this month is likely a pregnant female on her way to lay eggs. Slow your roll on country roads, especially after rain.
Eastern box turtles nest from late May through early July. Females leave the forest to find dry, open ground for their nests, traveling up to a mile from their home range in the process. They look for fields, woodland clearings, gardens, lawns, mulch piles, and roadsides.
Most road-killed box turtles every year are nesting females.
If you see one on the road and it's safe to stop: move her in the direction she was already heading. She has a destination she's been traveling toward, sometimes for over an hour.
Don't take her home or relocate her elsewhere. Box turtles have a tiny home range they know intimately, and a relocated turtle will spend the rest of its life trying to walk back, usually dying before it gets there.
If you see her digging in a soft patch of soil at the edge of a road, leave her alone. She'll finish in 30 minutes to an hour and return to the woods on her own.
A Foxy Love. 🧡 When you are feeling foxy but your partner does not quite get where you would like to be caressed…😜
These tender moments between Spring and her Beau Bertie made me laugh. She wants to be pampered and groomed but he is too inexperienced to know where and how to do it best!
At least he got the foxy nose-bumps (=kiss) right, but he still has lots to learn...🦊

@NiallHarbison@bdalexander46 This is heartbreaking to see her condition. It looks like she has some Golden Retriever in her. She is so sweet and gentle like goldens are. With the care of the team she will be beautiful like my precious Sandy was.
@NiallHarbison She was ready to be helped. She knew who was going to help her. Please everyone if you haven’t already subscribed to Niall it’s only $5 a month and it helps him out so much. Go to his main page and sign up. Thanking you in advance 🐾♥️
I told her to just relax, sleep, eat all the nice food we give her and the medicines will start working soon.
A very soft and gentle girl who will be looking and feeling like a million dollars one day soon I hope 🤞 (5/5)
You can see the absolute terror in her eyes. That will all change soon.
She is going to be a gorgeous blond if we can fix her so I called her Marilyn Monroe (4/5)
I’m hopeful that we can fix her up well.
She’s incredible skinny and her skin is in agony. Her ears and parts of her are bleeding from scratching herself so much (3/5)
Ferns have inhabited this Earth for an unfathomable span of time, unfurling their fronds long before the dinosaurs walked the land and already ancient when the first flowering plants appeared ⌛🌺
For centuries they confounded the keenest minds, bearing no flowers and no visible seeds, and so it was reasoned that their seeds must be hidden from mortal eyes.
From this mystery grew darker tales and it was said that on certain enchanted nights, fern seed could be gathered by the bold and the foolish 🌙
Those who possessed it would gain strange powers, slipping unseen through the world and passing invisible among their fellow humans.
As William Shakespeare wrote:
"We have the receipt of fern seed; we walk invisible." 🍃✨
Sometimes the best medicine isn't medicine at all—it's companionship.
A gentle cat can offer comfort, routine, and unconditional affection to people who may be missing family, friends, or a beloved pet.
Should care homes welcome cats to help brighten the lives of elderly residents?
