It fills my hearts with deep pride and emotion that our people are now able to offer Tarpan at Manipur Parvat (Mount Manipur) in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This sacred act is a reunion with our history and a tribute to the indomitable spirit of our forefathers who endured exile yet never surrendered their love for the motherland.

Renaming Mount Harriet as Mount Manipur stands as one of the greatest honours bestowed upon the people of Manipur since Independence, by our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji and Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri @AmitShah Ji. It immortalises the sacrifice of Maharaja Kulachandra Singh and the brave Manipuri freedom fighters exiled to this island after the Anglo Manipur War of 1891.
