“This project has shown how simple, practical and positive gestures can make a big difference, and I can think of no more fitting tribute to Her late Majesty’s seventy-year reign.”

C’mon Everybody!
Let’s plant again, like we did last Autumn, let’s plant again, like we did last year!
As we countdown to the end of the #queensgreencanopy, you can still plant a #tree & add it to the QGC Map to be part of the living legacy to honour Queen Elizabeth 🌳❤️

Yesterday a group of veterans, family members and others paid their respects at the Royal Oak memorial for those who lost their lives in the sinking of the ship on October 14th, 1939. 83 years gone but not forgotten.
Divers from the @RoyalNavy Northern Diving Group have dived down to the wreck of HMS Royal Oak to perform the solemn task of replacing the White Ensign. The warship lies at rest at Scapa Flow in #Orkney, sunk on Oct 14, 1939, after coming under attack from German U-Boat U-47.
🌲The Queen’s Green Canopy initiative has been extended to the end of March 2023 to give people the opportunity to plant trees in memoriam to honour Her Majesty The Queen.

It was my honour to welcome the Duke of Rothesay to Hoy and Walls yesterday. It may have been cloudy overhead but the atmosphere shared with HRH was warm and welcoming in typical Orkney fashion.
While temperatures soar to record breaking levels across many parts of the UK - there are some corners escaping the heatwave - including Orkney
