The longer I am away from my embroidery machine, the more I forget. Classic example-My top thread was black (the bottom is always white). When the top thread tension is tight, the bobbin thread is visible, meaning your bobbin thread was incorrectly threaded. Bingo!

@MrWilBaker Next, I used Elaine's "Draw a Picasso One Liner" to trace the Strava image of the run. https://t.co/YAovP4Ik29
Let me know if you have any questions, Will.
Day 13 of #fabricrecipes is COLLAGE. After listening to a podcast on the health benefits of making those small connections with people you don’t know, I thought about the boost of happiness I get whenever someone says hello or smiles to me on my morning runs.
@MrWilBaker First, I had to code each interaction "with my feet" by turning up to the dunes and back (I looked ridiculous). This shows up in Strava as little peaks along the path indicating the locations of each greeting.
Day 26 of #fabricrecipes is SKETCHBOOK. I usually scribble on pieces of paper, but I found some blank sketchbooks I made from plastic bags and recycled boxes. I think I’ll actually use them. #norulestextilesociety
Day 17 of #fabricrecipes is DISTORT. I’ve been watching my grandson today, so this is what I got. It’s a beautifully architected structure of spaghetti noodles arranged by a 1 year old helping to prepare dinner. I’m not sure it qualifies as textile, but there are no rules.
Continue until you have a design you like. Deconstruct them and start all over to make a garment if you dare. With access to a laser cutter, you can make a full wardrobe.
Day 16 of #fabricrecipies is DECONSTRUCT. These hand cut felt pieces are made to be put together & taken apart. 1. Cut out squares. 2. Fold the square in half forming a triangle & make four cuts as shown in the image. 3. Open the square. 4. Attach them together.
Day 15 of #fabricrecipes is PAPER. I replenished my stash of cards today using one of my favorite designs coded in #turtlestitch. This heart fractal tree taught me a lot about recursion and how nature designs itself. I am always amazed how well this stitches on paper!
Day14 of #fabricrecipes is 3D. Washed ashore objects became a jellyfish, made from a poly twisted webbing “bait bag” and some kind of nylon or plastic rope. Gone are the days of natural fiber rope made by hand. Our oceans are crying. It’s time to love ❤️ and care for them again.
Each time I felt like giving up, I would look at the original photo of my grandson and my daughter, (his tía) and couldn’t help but smile and continue.
Day 12 of #fabricrecipes is DOTS. I turned a photo into a half tone portrait and sent it to the embroidery machine. I struggled with it throughout the design process and at that point wondered if the machine would even stitch the tiny dots. #norulestexrilesociety
