Clinical surgeon, foodie, amateur runner. Twitter is egalitarian doc lounge. Love to talk medicine and laugh at med humor. All views my own #ILookLikeASurgeon
@aruba love your island, your beaches, your people. Have been on an airport line for 2 hr, watching someone who just passed out get medical care bc of your inefficiency and delays. Shame.
@arghavan_salles@teroterotero agreed. The decrease in NIH funding was already affecting quality of long term research. Reagents and supplies alone can eat up a whole budget. But then again, who needs cancer meds? We can outsource it to industry. I am sure the most needs will be met instead of highest profit
FWIW no one knows what day it is when we are in the post Christmas pre New Year purgatory. Find another way to check for orientation #Trauma ##MedTwitter
@arghavan_salles It is incredibly frustrating. You don't want to be right if it means human beings will end up suffering. It defeats the purpose of why we are in medicine.
@MSharifpourMD Consultants tell the powers that be nice ways to ignore the core issues their own staff has been shrieking about loudly but would cost actual time and $ to address. Easier to invest in something that would make the c suite sleep better than actually fix problems.
Aw jeez, not this again.
According to this consultant, hospitals now *lose* an average of $304,312 per physician per year.
🤦🏻
Guess it’s time for another thread on Budgetary Gerrymandering.
@arghavan_salles Yeah sure, science is a linear process that you can "take a break on." Yep. Those clinical trials that have multiple phases can be paused like a video. I mean isn't that a key part of every grant proposal? The pause switch?
@acweyand Also fwiw @AmCollSurgeons has had numerous discussions about how docs of that era CAN'T retire bc they made their whole lives and identities tied to medicine. It isn't healthy bc they feel such a tragic loss when they finally do leave.
@acweyand There has always been a balance that corporate medicine, CMS paperwork and crushing admins have destroyed. "The job" was always about pt first. The best docs I ever knew did maintain boundaries and balance. The ethics haven't changed the awareness and how we all function has.
Early voting site near me opened at 10am. I got in line at 10 13. Parking lot was full, finally got to cast my ballot at 11 40. Line still out the door. Go #Democracy ! #Vote
