@Jigsaw_Trading But edge lives in the trader, not the platform. Sierra isn't a lower bar, it's a toolkit. If your process blends in external data (dealer positioning levels, custom studies), that flexibility IS the edge.
@Jigsaw_Trading I’m willing to move forward in good faith, and I’d appreciate early access to 7.6+. However, I also hope this can be an opportunity for Jigsaw to listen more closely to experienced users and reconsider some long-standing requests.
@Jigsaw_Trading this goes beyond a simple bug report. My criticism is about the lack of meaningful development and the way user feedback has been handled over the years.
@Jigsaw_Trading I’m happy to be specific and provide constructive feedback, but I don’t think it’s fair to suggest that the problem is simply a lack of communication from my side.
@Jigsaw_Trading I read a comment here and couldn’t agree more. You’ve fallen behind, and you’ve never really listened to your community. I’ve always heard responses like “We don’t implement that because we don’t think it’s necessary.”

This is PTL.
Rolling daily $SPX GEX snapshots have been somewhat irrelevant since spring 2022.
That's when Tue/Thu SPX expiries were added and 0DTE became an everyday phenomenon.
A single daily reading aggregates over three properties of today's market that the headline number can't capture:
—————
1) It's intraday-dynamic.
- Three key variables move at once through the session:
Spot crosses strikes,
- 0DTE positions are opened, closed and rolled (so dealer inventory itself shifts, not just where spot sits within it),
- Time decays toward the cash close.
The gamma profile at 10:00 isn't the one at 14:30.
—————
2) It's extremely localized at the strike, and grows quasi-exponentially as expiration approaches.
Same ATM strike, 1h vs 3d to expiry: peak gamma multiple folds higher and the profile far narrower (chart below).
Stack that across every active 0DTE strike near spot and you get the spiky, migratory surface dealers actually hedge.
—————
3) It's not comparable to pre-2022.
Position distribution, the share of risk sitting in 0DTEs, and the speed at which positioning rotates intraday are all structurally different from the weekly/monthly regime that came before.
A 2024 print and a 2019 print aren't measuring the same object.
—————
PS:
What's actually shown is more a proxy for net OI in proximity to spot — naive GEX, with calls assumed bought by MMs and puts sold by them.
That sign convention was always a shortcut, and in a regime where positioning flips intraday, anchoring to a daily snapshot of it is shakier still.
