@Milajoy This story is more than a decade old. I would enjoy these posts more if there was more intro so we can see you are sharing someone else's story rather than describing events that happened to you.
@Chopsmath@kaylee_ashlynn It can differ between districts. Mine teaches Western Civ in 7th & 8th, with US History in 10th & 11th. We talk about the American Revolution twice. Once in 8th grade (Western Revolutions) and once in 10th (the US story).
@OcrazioCornPop There isn't enough context here. Why? Are they moving it to another grade? Is it already being taught somewhere else? Are they removing repetition? Maybe there is evil afoot, but citing 11th grade specifically makes it sound more like reorganization.
@RupertLowe10 This hasn't been said enough. There is a gross odor of classism wafting off the Grooming Gang inquiry. As though working class girls were somehow easier to ignore.
Gen X Grandma here. My peers thought I was such a mean mom when I made my kids do chores, limited TV/video games, made them get jobs after graduation and transitioned them to living on their own as adults. I now have adult children living interesting lives. My peers have unemployed slugs playing video games in the basement.
@ThrillaRilla369 Been there, done that. I loved that part of my life, but when the kids grow up it's important to find something else to do. I've been working for 10 years since my kids grew up and moved out. Getting a degree before I had kids was a very good decision for me.
@doji_up@TRHLofficial Came here to say this. Most immigrants from Scotland came to the US in the 1700's and settled in the southern states. Southern culture is more influenced by Scots culture than any other region of the US.
@priscabdrO This is starting to sound to me like it is a toxic cocktail of DEI, misogyny, and class bigotry. Think about it. They are never prep school girls, are they?
@MrAndyNgo Curious that he thought he would be absolved of any guilt when he claimed that they cursed at him and called him a "migrant". Didn't the same thing happen to Henry Nowak? Physical violence is justified because someone called them a mean name? Even if true, WTF?
