In this piece, @jnelz and I argue that newsroom social media policies exacerbate journalism's HR crisis by limiting journalistic professionalism and autonomy, both of which are crucial for job satisfaction and journalism’s democratic mission. Free prints:

Thanks to @DomenicoNPR for your accuracy in stating a new poll’s results fall within the margin of error and can’t be interpreted to say either candidate is leading the race. Stats grade: A+

Thrilled to announce that the special issue on social media journalism, edited by @MichOpgenhaffen and myself, has finally been published in @journstudies!
See the thread below for more information and check out the full issue with all nine articles here: https://t.co/lpp6lh44vY
The @nytimes headline says Trump leads in five states, Biden in one, but the chart shows him leading in only two states; the rest are within the margin of error and it's too close to determine a leader.

This could be the result of resources deployed (MSM have larger staffs), but we suspect it reflects alt media's audience strategy based on cultivating belonging rather than provision of facts. Read more with your free e-prints above, while they last!
We find that alternative media (in this study, @BreitbartNews@NEWSMAX@dailykos and @HuffPost) rely less on evidence and more on assertions than MSM. Source count in right-wing media is particularly low. And when alt media do provide sources, they are more distant from them.
After we developed the concept of "source proximity," @markcoddington and I wondered if outlets could be distinguished by their mix of sources and evidence: Do alternative media also have alternative epistemologies? Our research suggests yes: https://t.co/avLIox2J4K
THE PARADOX OF CONNECTION examines how journalists’ practices are formed, negotiated, & maintained in dynamic social media environments.

Manners question: when someone sends you a thank-you note, do you tell them thank you for saying thank you? And if so, should they thank you for that thank you so that you become some kind of thank-you pen pals?
Tomorrow, @jblumgart and I are doing a Reddit AMA about return-to-office plans, hybrid arrangements, and the future of work in Philly. Join us and bring questions https://t.co/fwJVZj96F9
As the news industry's march away from legacy formats continues, I hope scholars and media execs alike will consider what we've learned so far from the research about news on smartphones. Conveniently, my thoughts (with @lexi_haskell) were just published. https://t.co/wId3odxuAr
@keithroysdon@HC_Richardson@lexi_haskell Keith, thanks for your willingness. I couldn't find your email online so if you'll post here or send one to me (logan at https://t.co/sd6NdOcNJo) we'll be in touch!
I dunno if this thing still works like it used to, but @lexi_haskell and I are studying what journalists miss about Twitter and I'm looking for interview subjects. If you're a working journalist and willing to chat, please reply; otherwise, consider retweeting? For old times sake
@_silversmith@HC_Richardson@lexi_haskell I’m not cool enough for DM access but drop me a line (logan at https://t.co/sd6NdOcNJo) or send me your email and we’ll get in touch
@KarinTillinger@lexi_haskell No, don't think so, but the account is marked dormant and I could find a name. Happy to follow up if you wanna point me in the right direction.
