Definitely, you have to keep some compute for Grok to gain marketshare.
That being said, I really think you should keep expanding this Cloud segment of the business, even as Grok recaptures some territory on the model layer.
You are the best at infra on Earth, the whole market needs infra. You will have demand for all the compute you can build.
Once you start offering compute in space, you will have privileged access orders of magnitude more "land" and energy than any other provider.
Selling compute as a service to third parties is how you can get the capital to grow the fastest and expand SpaceX to be a solar system scale business within a decade.
There was no award when Newton discovered three laws of forces, nor when da Vinci painted the Mona Lisa.
There was no Grammy for Beethoven or Chopin, nor a Nobel Prize in Literature for Homer.
Masterpieces do not seek transient trophies but aim to be timeless.
🚨 @RyanCohen calls out @eBay. 🚨
Then he walks onto @eBay and uses their own platform to prove his point.
A PSA 10 Trump Topps Now card with a @PSAcard estimate around $216 is already bid up to $1,525 with nearly a week left.
That is not just an auction.
That is a live demonstration of price discovery, scarcity, culture, attention, authentication, and marketplace liquidity all colliding in real time.
Now zoom out.
He is reportedly doing this with 20 items.
At this pace, he might use the proceeds to buy eBay himself.
But the joke is hiding the real lesson.
This is checkmate.
Ryan is not just telling eBay’s board they are underperforming.
He is using their own platform to show the world what they have failed to understand.
@eBay does not just have listings.
It has cultural inventory.
It has collector psychology.
It has trust infrastructure.
It has global demand sitting behind every rare, authenticated, story-driven asset.
Yet the board does not meaningfully buy shares, does not appear to act like owners, and does not seem to fully leverage the machine sitting directly in front of them.
@RyanCohen is turning their own scoreboard into the argument.
This is not trolling.
This is activist investing as performance art.
This is strategy with a receipt attached.
The man is showing that collectibles are not dead inventory. They are financialized culture. They are emotional markets. They are attention assets. And when the right operator understands that, a marketplace stops being a website and becomes an arena.
One day, Harvard Business School will write case studies on this.
The activist did not just call out the board.
He used their own product to expose the opportunity they were sleeping on.
Checkmate.
Same here.
By way of background for those who care, I spent a lot of time last week with senior members of the Anthropic team to understand what they do to ensure Claude is good for humanity and was impressed.
Everyone I met was highly competent and cared a great deal about doing the right thing. No one set off my evil detector. So long as they engage in critical self-examination, Claude will probably be good.
After that, I was ok leasing Colossus 1 to Anthropic, as SpaceXAI had already moved training to Colossus 2.
Economics takes a 4+ dimensional problem, models it for convenience as 3D (always missing the consequential dimensions), then analyses it as 2D while confusing the gullible public who interprets it as simple 1D.
How to Explain Depression.
First things first: it isn’t being down.
Everyone has been down. Not everyone has been depressed. So you have to explain that two *very* different things are being confused.
Q: What is Depression? Good question.
I don’t know. But as near as I can figure out it’s a program that every brain has, but that hasn’t run even once in many brains. And some may never run the program. Some run it adaptively. Some can’t stop running it. It’s like a fire extinguisher required in all buildings. Just because it’s there doesn’t mean that building has ever used the extinguisher. So that is confusing!
Q: Can it be modeled for those who have not experienced it? Yes! Good news. I believe it can. Here goes.
Imagine you are in bed and someone literally fills up your home with waist deep molasses. It’s everywhere. Now you have to do normal things. Get up. Go to the shower. Brush your teeth. Answer the door. Cook a meal.
Hopefully it occurs to you that now everything is a calculation. Can I make it to the closet to put on clothes? Is it worth getting up to brush my teeth? Do I have energy to get up. And what happens if you explain this to someone who calls and asks how you are doing? You say “I’m depressed!” They say “Cheer up!” Ok. What does that have to do with the molasses issue? NOTHING. Hence the mismatch.
Q: Why would nature give us this program? Here is a guess. Depression stops people cold from doing things. Maybe it is an emergency override program for overriding absolutely everything on the rare occurrences when you need to stop all action to keep from damaging yourself and your kin through choices you are undertaking.
Q: That sounds so exotic. Why is depression everywhere then?Unfortunately it seems like such an exotic program weirdly triggers too easily in many minds. Provably because we live in a modern world our biology hasn’t caught up with yet.
———-
This post isn’t for people with depression. It is for all of you who live with people who have it. Hope it helps.
Often the best thing you can do if you are kin to that person is to let them know that they aren’t failing you. That they matter to you. That you get that this is often being run against them not being chosen by them. And then hang in there for dear life. It’s impossible sometimes. But we gotta try.
Because no one…and I mean no one… understands depression. I sure don’t.
This is what little I’ve gleaned from loving, living and listening for decades to depression. Particularly around the holiday seasons.
It’s a beast. Life and death really.
So: Good luck out there.
Rooting for you!
Some groups, tribes, or nations are intelligent while composed of very stupid individuals; other are stupid while made up of intelligent members.
It is all about how people interact.
