🚨 Seven months into 2026, quantum stopped being a question and became a deadline.

The year so far 👇

January
→ The G7 Cyber Expert Group adopts a roadmap for moving the financial sector to post-quantum cryptography. Payment systems, central bank infrastructure, systemically important providers
→ 2026 is formally designated the Year of Quantum Security, launched in Washington with the FBI, CISA and NIST taking part

February
→ Google publicly calls on governments and enterprises to prepare now for the quantum era
→ Infleqtion becomes the first neutral-atom quantum company to list on the NYSE, raising over $550M. IQM follows with a $1.8B SPAC

March
→ The US Cyber Strategy names post-quantum cryptography a federal modernization priority
→ @ethereum publishes its post-quantum roadmap. Hash-based signatures at both layers, SNARK aggregation, work targeted around 2029, full migration years beyond that
→ The UK adds £2B to its national quantum program
→ Google's Quantum AI team publishes research indicating a future quantum computer could break the elliptic curve cryptography behind Bitcoin far faster, and with far fewer resources, than previously estimated

April
→ @Coinbase's Independent Advisory Board, including Scott Aaronson, Dan Boneh and Justin Drake, publishes its position paper. Roughly 6.9M BTC sit in addresses with exposed public keys. About 1M of those are held in only eleven addresses
→ @nvidia releases Ising, open AI models built for quantum error correction. Jensen Huang, who called useful quantum computing 15 to 30 years away, now backs the field with a $1B position in PsiQuantum and stakes across Quantinuum and QuEra

May
→ The Commerce Department takes $2B in equity stakes across nine quantum companies, including roughly $1B into a new IBM venture

June 22
→ Two executive orders, signed the same day by @realDonaldTrump
→ Order one: build a cryptographically relevant quantum computer by 2028, Department of Energy leading
→ Order two, EO 14409: every federal system moves to post-quantum cryptography. Key establishment by 2030. Digital signatures by 2031. Four years faster than the previous deadline, binding on every federal contractor
→ The threat model is named in the order itself: harvest now, decrypt later

June 30
→ Microsoft pulls its Quantum Safe Program forward. Mark Russinovich: "the goal is to transition products and services to PQC by 2029"

July 9
→ @Cloudflare reviews all nine next-generation signature candidates and finds none arrive in time. FN-DSA around 2033. SQIsign around 2035. Their conclusion: ML-DSA is available today, and it will have to do. Cloudflare targets full post-quantum by 2029

Running underneath all of it
→ @Google and @IBM both targeting fault-tolerant systems by 2029
→ @BlackRock's Bitcoin ETF prospectus warning there is no guarantee the network transitions in time
→ China at $15B+, the EU directing critical infrastructure to be fully post-quantum by 2030, national programs accelerating across the UK, Germany, France, Japan, Canada and Australia

Read it together and the pattern is impossible to miss.

Google. IBM. Microsoft. Cloudflare. The US government. Each working from different information. All landing on the same three years.

Meanwhile not one blockchain has set a date for when classical signatures stop being accepted.

2026 is also the year we became @NaoXProtocol. The Blockchain for the Quantum era.

Every transaction is authorized with ML-DSA-87, the NIST-standardized signature scheme defined in FIPS 204 at Level 5, the highest tier the standard defines.

Post-quantum at every layer, from the first block.

The rest of the industry is planning a migration.

We never needed one.

Every crypto cycle tells a story 📖

BTC → ETH → Wallets → L1s → L2s → Modular Chains → Interoperability → Stablecoins → DeFi → Liquid Staking → NFTs → Gaming → SocialFi → RWAs → AI → DePIN → Identity → Reputation → Agents → Privacy

Next Up: Quantum safe blockchains.

Crypto narratives are evolving.

The next one protects everything that came before.

[Antonio Gomes @onchainantonio]

🚨 The internet is quietly rewriting its own rules.

@Cloudflare → targeting full PQ by 2029
@Google → setting a 2029 migration timeline
@Microsoft → targeting post-quantum transition by ~2030
@awscloud → rolling out post-quantum services and TLS support
@KPMG → advising clients that RSA and ECDSA will be disallowed by 2035, urging migration to start now
@ethereum → researching a full protocol migration
@Coinbase → exploring quantum-safe custody
@nvidia → advancing quantum compute hardware

And it's not just companies. Governments are moving too. Israel just committed $20M to national quantum R&D. China's public commitment is estimated past $15B. The UK has £2.5B committed over ten years. The EU's current Quantum Flagship phase alone is over €400M.

The laws of the internet are being rewritten. The laws of security have to be rewritten with them.

Most of these organizations are looking at years of upgrading legacy systems that were never built with this in mind.

That's the real lesson here, not the specific 2029 or 2035 dates, but the fact that the largest, most well-resourced companies and governments in the world are all reaching the same conclusion at roughly the same time.

Very soon,

The world will have to be quantum-safe. The only real question left is who's already built for it, and who's still retrofitting.

[Antonio Gomes @onchainantonio]

Is this a good sign? 🤔

Israel is entering the quantum race in a big way.

The race for quantum supremacy is intensifying. Is this a good thing? Let’s discuss 👇

This latest $20M commitment forms part of a broader national quantum push worth more than $400M, building capability across research, infrastructure, talent and commercial applications.

Israel is far from alone:

🇨🇳 China: an estimated $15B+ in public quantum investment
🇺🇸 US: $4B+ in public investment, the National Quantum Initiative and recent Executive Orders
🇪🇺 EU: a €1B+ Quantum Flagship and 2030 leadership target
🇬🇧 UK: a £2.5B national quantum strategy
🇮🇱 Israel: more than $400M committed nationally, including this latest $20M initiative

Different countries. Different budgets. One shared realisation: quantum capability is becoming economic, scientific and geopolitical power.

The upside is enormous, but so is the cryptographic exposure. The future of blockchain, finance, communications and every industry built on public-key cryptography must become post-quantum within the next two years. Migration takes time. Waiting until the threat becomes practical means waiting too long.
Luckily, we built accordingly.

NaoX is a post-quantum Layer 1 designed for the world now taking shape.

Slowly, then suddenly.

@NaorisProtocol @Cloudflare Mmm well something is better than nothing

[Antonio Gomes @onchainantonio]

Can @ethereum, @solana, and other blockchains just flip a switch to post-quantum?

No. They cannot.

Post-quantum is not an upgrade. It is a structural change to the foundation the chain was built on.

Here is why that matters 🧵
