@JudgeLeeHarris1 Yep! I didn't realize until a few weeks ago when I was asking my dad questions that my grandfather and great-grandfather were using mules on their small farm in NC until the 1950s, when they got their first tractor!

One of the most evocative monuments on the grounds of the Texas State Capitol is the Texas African American History Memorial. Its center (pictured) commemorates the June 19, 1865 announcement of emancipation Galveston. The monument is the work of sculptor Ed Dwight of Denver, CO.

I spent some time yesterday and Sunday working on restoring this photo from the archives of the Texas Wendish Heritage Society. It depicts the second building of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda. Not done yet, but looking much better!
