I don’t use social media to pontificate but this needs to be said.
If no off-ramp is found within the next week, history will write of this Middle East conflict as WWIII. Very soon, it will resemble a global conflict in terms of the number of countries involved, the intensity of violence, and the spread of its absolutely catastrophic consequences. Those who can must prevent this from happening.
Pakistan is currently the only viable channel for the US to establish a communication channel with Iran after the failure of mediation by Oman.
If Trump was serious about mediation he could have accepted the major concessions made by Iran as divulged by Oman and ended the war but he chose escalation .
He has no credibility with the Iranians.
The terms of both sides for a settlement as reported in the media are too far apart to visualise a realistic compromise.
Israel, either by design or otherwise, is not part of these mediation attempts. It is constantly taking escalatory steps.
The US is unwilling or unable to control Israel.
Pakistan is caught in a bind and feels compelled to play a role in helping winding down the conflict of it can be of service.
It does not want its defence pact with Saudi Arabia to get activated if Saudi Arabia joins the war actively against Iran and the latter retaliates massively.
Iran is Pakistan’s direct neighbour and that relationship has to be managed with care.
Saudi Arabia has an interest in weakening Iran. So has Israel. Saudi Arabia and Israel have been in active communication under the radar.
Pakistan can’t afford to be seen on the side of Israel against Iran. Domestically it can have serious political, sectarian and social repercussions.
India has no such pressures to put itself at the service of US or Saudi Arabia or Iran although our interests are at stake in a big way.
US intentions are unclear and Trump is not to be trusted.
We should not allow ourselves to be used by the US .
We should not be in competition with Pakistan as our dilemmas are different.
We should be in touch with all sides to press for ending the war, be active in all round diplomacy but not insert ourselves into the conflict as a go between.
Our presidency of BRICS gives us a platform for all round constructive diplomacy.
Trump’s 5-day delay on strikes against Iran’s energy infrastructure is not de-escalation—it’s tactical repositioning. Under pressure at home and facing backlash over targeting civilian infrastructure (an international law red line), he’s buying time: stabilizing markets, reassessing options, and floating a thin off-ramp (Vance–Ghalibaf talks) with no clear substance. Tehran shows no sign of shifting, reacting with a high degree of skepticism, feeling that it's a deception operation and that this is about managing risk, not ending the war.
Based on what I've gathered from Trump’s rosy framing of some unconfirmed talks and hearing from people inside Iran who are closely following these developments, the five-day delay appears less like a genuine diplomatic opening and more like a signaling maneuver. Neither Washington nor Tehran seems positioned for meaningful negotiations at this stage. The devastating destruction, killings, and all that have happened in the more than past three weeks have added enormously to the Iran-U.S. trust deficit. It takes a lot of imagination, determination, and creativity to make this work...
The recent war with Iran delivered few genuine reality checks.
Iran is not weak. Its political establishment is stable and nowhere near collapse. It demonstrated it can fight on multiple fronts, disrupt the global economy at will, and remains the strongest power in the region.
More importantly, the conflict revealed Iran’s true strategic posture. Despite possessing formidable military capabilities — including advanced missile systems, drone technology, and asymmetric warfare strengths — Iran has never used this power for territorial expansion, bullying its neighbors, or destabilizing the region, contrary to repeated accusations from Washington and Tel Aviv. Instead, Tehran has consistently pursued diplomatic initiatives for peaceful coexistence and a genuine collective security regime. As President Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Araghchi have repeatedly declared, Iran seeks not dominance, but “a strong region.”
Had Iran’s policy been expansionist or based on confrontation, it would have employed that power very differently. When Trump unilaterally withdrew from the JCPOA and inflicted over a trillion dollars in economic damage through “maximum pressure” sanctions, Iran had every incentive to close the Strait of Hormuz and retaliate. That campaign of economic warfare — which cost Iran trillions in lost oil revenue, frozen assets, and secondary sanctions — gave Tehran more than enough justification to disrupt global energy flows. Yet it chose restraint.
This is the real lesson the region and the world should draw: Iran’s restraint was never weakness. It was a deliberate, long-term policy preference for diplomacy over confrontation. Misreading this reality yet again would be a dangerous mistake.
- Strait of Hormuz is not closed. Ships hesitate because insurers fear the war of choice you initiated—not Iran
- No insurer—and no Iranian—will be swayed by more threats. Try respect
- Freedom of Navigation cannot exist without Freedom of Trade. Respect both—or expect neither
It is a beautiful description of the last moments of the Supreme Leader, reflecting wisdom, patience, and, more importantly, the qualities of leadership of someone who does not believe only in the material world but follows the timeless lesson of standing against oppression and cruelty, even to the point of sacrificing one’s own life, as Imam Hussain (AS) did.
For many, such depictions may seem like stories. Yet billions of people, not only in Islam but also in other faiths and societies, believe in spirituality, believe in standing up against injustice, and are willing to sacrifice everything for what they see as a just cause.
The way Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei lived, and the way he ultimately offered his life for the cause he believed in, is extraordinary. It is not easy to look into the eyes of death when you know it is approaching and still remain steadfast, even when your family, including children, may stand in the line of fire, just as the great spiritual leaders and martyrs of history did before him.
The ultimate sacrifice of the Supreme Leader has given a renewed impetus to the spirit of resistance among Iranians against what many see as an unjust war, one that they believe was started to impose regional hegemony. His sacrifice has carved his name into history, illuminating the hearts of countless people across the world. It has strengthened not only the resolve of Iranians in the region politically and strategically, but also spiritually.
Despite intense propaganda, people from many walks of life and Muslims from different schools of thought and traditions have begun to speak about the sacrifice of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and the courage of the Iranian people standing against what they perceive as global oppression. For many, his final moments represent not merely the death of a political leader, but the enduring symbol of steadfastness, faith, and moral conviction.
That is the difference in ways of thinking, like night and day. For a world intoxicated with material gains and the arrogance of power, it becomes difficult to comprehend such a philosophy. A civilisation that measures success only through wealth, dominance, and military might struggles to understand the power of sacrifice, patience, and spiritual conviction.
Yet history has shown that ideas rooted in faith, resilience, and justice often outlive empires built on force alone. The memory of sacrifice has a way of travelling far beyond borders, inspiring people who see in it the timeless human struggle between power and principle, oppression and resistance, fear and courage.
For those who believe in the deeper moral traditions of humanity, the sacrifice of such leaders is not merely a political event. It becomes a reminder that standing against injustice, even at the greatest personal cost, remains one of the highest expressions of human dignity.

Reasons why Gaddafi was killed:
1. Libya has no electricity bill, electricity came free of charge to all citizens.
2. There were no interest rates on loans, the banks were state-owned, the loan of citizens by law 0%.
3. Gaddafi promised not to buy a house for his parents until everyone in Libya owns a home.
4. All newlywed couples in Libya received 60,000 dinars from the government & because of that they bought their own apartments & started their families.
5. Education & medical treatment in Libya are free. Before Gaddafi there were only 25% readers, 83% during his reign
6. If Libyans wanted to live on a farm, they received free household appliances, seeds and livestock.
7. If they cannot receive treatment in Libya, the state would fund them $2300+ accommodation & travel for treatment abroad.
8. If you buy a car, the government finances 50% of the price.
9. The price of gasoline became $ 0.14 per liter.
10. Libya had no external debt, and reserves were $150 Billion (now frozen worldwide)
11. Since some Libyans can't find jobs after school, the government will pay the average salary when they can't find a job.
12. Part of oil sales in Libya are directly linked to the bank accounts of all citizens.
13. The mother who gave birth to the child will receive $5000
14. 40 loaves of bread cost $0.15.
15. 25% of Libyans had all Ilisna diplomas.
16. Gaddafi has implemented the world's biggest irrigation project known as the "BIG MAN PROJECT" to ensure water availability in the desert.
If this is called “DICTATORSHIP” I wonder what democracy is?
How Oil/Petroleum Prices Are Determined
Some segments of the society have raised questions about how petroleum prices can be adjusted across the entire inventory or reserves.
At the same time, others have used the issue to fuel sensational narratives without fully understanding how pricing mechanisms actually work.
In reality, the explanation is quite straightforward. This is basic pricing economics and the mechanism works both ways, as explained below.
Let me therefore outline in simple terms how fuel pricing works - not only in Pakistan, but across most global markets - so the process can be better understood.
The assumption that companies are making a massive “inventory profit” is based on a misunderstanding of how fuel pricing and inventory actually work in Pakistan.
Fuel prices are determined using the average Platts benchmark prices of petrol and diesel during the pricing period, along with exchange rate adjustments. The price is not based on the cost of a particular shipment purchased weeks earlier.
At the same time, Oil companies are legally required by OGRA to maintain around 20 days of mandatory stock (and recently even higher due to regional tensions). This means companies are continuously selling fuel while simultaneously buying new cargo at prevailing international prices to replenish the same inventory.
So, when a litre of fuel is sold today, it must be replaced with a litre purchased at current international prices to keep reserve at required levels.
What people describe as an “inventory gain” disappears because the stock is being replenished with more expensive molecules.
In fact, the opposite situation happens quite often. When international prices fall, companies are forced to sell inventory purchased at higher prices at lower regulated prices, resulting in significant inventory losses.
For example:
- December: Petrol prices in Pakistan were reduced by around Rs24 per litre after international prices declined. Refineries and OMCs were holding mandatory inventory purchased at higher prices, which caused billions of rupees in inventory losses.
- Similar situations occurred in 2022 and 2023, when multiple price cuts forced companies to sell higher-cost inventory at lower prices.
This is simply how a pass-through pricing system with mandatory inventory requirements works.
Sometimes the adjustment may look like a temporary gain, but very often it results in losses when international prices decline. It is not a windfall profit from “cheap oil bought earlier.”
Hope this explains on how pricing mechanics work.

Why are these CSS qualifiers suddenly acting like they’re the next big professors after barely scraping 41 marks in ONE subject?!?
Like hello?? 41 does NOT make you Einstein overnight!!!
Now every other CSS officer is out here launching coaching centres, dropping TEDx wannabe talks, and opening their own “academy” like it’s a side hustle glow-up 🤡
And our desi youth is eating it UP!! Falling for the fake guru vibes left and right 🚩🚩
Stop simping for 41-marks “mentors” pls!!! We deserve better!!! 🔥
We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.
The opposite of love is not hate, it’s indifference.
