There are moments where the audience starts laughing and reacting even before we see Nikki's expression, just in anticipation of what she's going to do next. It's wild. I'm glad I saw it with a crowd.
The budget is impressive, and I get that YouTube Filmmakers are a headline but... OBSESSION lives and dies by that Inde Navarrette performance, which is a classic. Every time Nikki's not on screen, all the people in the audience are like "Where's Nikki?"
@RManta82 I don't really have hugely strong feelings about remaking Stargate. I just think there's no way to make a SEQUEL series following up on the classic Stargate franchise in 2026, without alienating like 95% of your potential audience.
I doubt there's any way to continue the STARGATE franchise in a way that's remotely interesting or accessible to anyone under 35 at this point. (That movie came out when I was in high school!) I think you'd have to just reboot from the very top and start again.
EXCLUSIVE: The new "Stargate" TV series has been axed at Amazon.
The show was first announced with a series order in November 2025 and hailed from showrunner Martin Gero, who was a writer on "Stargate SG-1" and "Stargate: Atlantis." Sources say Amazon execs were concerned that Gero's take on the series would not have broad appeal beyond the franchise's already dedicated fanbase.

@alex ALSO there was no point for publications like Barron's to just accept the status quo. They're trying to educate and enlighten by looking at situations from alt. points of view and poking holes in conventional wisdom. "Every company is great!" is not interesting to read.
George Lucas' mind is a wild horse. Sometimes it gives you "laser sword," "Viet Cong teddy bears," "co-pilot is a big dog," sometimes it gives you "kill this lil' alien racer in front of his family" or "Marion was 11 when she and Indy first f*cked." No one needed an editor more.
BTW one thing that really struck me about my international travels this year is the total dominance of American Top 40 around the world. In a cafe or store in Rome, you're as or more likely to hear Dua Lipa than an Italian person singing something in Italian.
If I may- in my estimation- #WidowsBay may very well be the best streaming series in a long time… and hands down one of the most mesmerizing acts of narrative prestidigitation in Horror.
(In the climactic installment, the hero ultimately uses the camera to record themselves rebelling, inspiring a robot rebellion that sweeps the evil regime away... Honestly it could work... Let me get Claude on this.)
Laboring under constant surveillance in order to train the robots that will ultimately replace you is such a dystopia cliche, it sounds like ChatGPT trying to outline a YA franchise.
Today, we're launching shift. We're starting by cleaning your apartment in New York City, for free.
Here's how it works. Book a shift cleaning. A vetted shift operator comes to your home wearing one of our devices. They clean. They leave. You pay nothing.
In exchange, we record the cleaning. Robotics is being built on data about how people do daily tasks, and the value of that recording is what funds the service. Anything personal in it is anonymized before the recording is processed.
By now, you have heard about the shift to AI more times than you can count. About the shift toward you, the part where you actually feel it, you have heard almost nothing. Shift is what starts to make it concrete, in specific cities, with specific services.
Today, cleaning in New York. Soon, handymen, repairs, and errands across the globe. And this is just one side of shift, with more on the way.
Comment “shift” and we’ll send you an early access link.
Building a museum that looks like a space ship and inventing a new category of “Narrative Art” to encompass the things you personally like to justify putting General Grievous under the same roof as Norman Rockwell … dudes rock
Ice had a choice between defending the Freedom 250 performance specifically or defending the abstract concept of having no personal standards, and he went with the latter. Incredible.
