At 10 years old, my favorite player, Manny Machado, was traded
At 14 years old, my favorite player, Trey Mancini, was traded
At 16 years old, my favorite player, Austin Hays, was traded
At 18 years old, my favorite player, Adley Rutschman, was just traded
Two things can be true at the same time:
1. Trading Adley Rutschman is a sign of how this era has failed, and it’s a brutal pill to swallow for the fans.
2. This return is very strong. Two top 100 pitching prospects, three of Boston’s top five prospects and an MLB-ready catcher.
@FR8M0VER@jcam3795 Everything your saying is true but I think the upside on rutschman is so high. When hes healthy, hes the best catcher in baseball. He was a 1 1 pick for a reason. I feel like im gonna see rutschman have a career contract year with boston
@FR8M0VER@jcam3795 Its definetly not intended to be a full rebuild (basallo, bradish, baz, alonso) but if we are going to extend all these guys, why get rid of our best player when he has another year. Kinda a poorly thought out, half - rebuild (even if the return was ok)
@jcam3795 That’s the shame of it. Although I do believe a couple of the trades today were needed and were good.
It shouldn’t have been necessary.
This team should have been a buyer at the deadline ever since the 2023 season.
