In case you missed it: California salmon are back at healthier population levels, which means the return of commercial ocean fishing for the first time in three years and expanded opportunities for recreational fishing.
The previous closures followed dry years of 2020-2022, which were hard on the salmon population. We're working hard with our partners to ensure salmon populations continue to recover and stay healthy, even under a hotter, drier future.

Today, Dolores Huerta celebrates 96 years! Her life's work, dedication and advocacy have taught us that environmental justice go hand-in-hand with protecting public health. We're committed to both. #SiSePuede#EarthDay#Amplify
Dolores, we love you always. On your birthday, we celebrate your voice, your leadership, your conviction, and your strength.
Happy birthday, querida amiga.
Siempre contigo. ❤️
Dolores Huerta is a transformative pioneer for the farm labor movement. She is a powerhouse for working people, civil rights, and justice.
This Dolores Huerta Day, I urge all Californians to take inspiration from her example and work to make a positive impact in their community.
🔥@MarkRuffalo: “I gotta be honest, I’m not feeling so great. Renee Good was murdered. We have stormtroopers running around terrorizing. As much as I love all this, I can’t pretend all this crazy stuff isn’t happening. We have a president who says laws don’t apply to him… this is crazy.”

Last week, Secreatary @WadeCrowfoot was in Altadena with the @CAGeoSurvey and @CAL_FIRE to visit a project designed to protect the community from landslide and mudslide risk following last year’s Eaton Fire.
The barriers shown in this video were a direct result of that work and they already are doing their job to protect Californians, keeping mud and debris from reaching the roadway during recent storms.
@CalConservation
What a night. Stand Up for a Living Wage for All brought together leaders, advocates, artists, and everyday workers to demand what should already be guaranteed: a wage that honors dignity & survival.
TY to everyone who showed up, spoke up, donated, performed, & stood w/ workers.
Workers shouldn’t need government assistance and endless shifts to make ends meet. Ending the subminimum wage is how we fix that.
Want to hear from workers living this reality? Follow @onefairwage to hear their stories. ✨
We just secured 5.5 million dollars to certify and provide jobs to nearly 600 formerly incarcerated firefighters transitioning from fighting wildfires in prison to serving communities while free. This is what hope and redemption looks like. This is California.

Prop 50 puts our elections back on a level playing field, preserves independent redistricting over the long term, and lets the people decide.
So return your ballot today. Vote yes on 50.
Governor Newsom just signed my bill to increase incarcerated firefighter pay 700% to the federal minimum wage.
Anyone who puts their life on the line to protect others is a hero and deserves both our gratitude and to be compensated justly.
