VISITING THE BEACH... IN LAKE LURE, NC!
We've been working on a few projects out around Lake Lure lately, and let me tell you, it got HOT the other day.
We were about ready to forget about work and jump straight into the lake! Unfortunately, we had somewhere else to be, so we grabbed these quick clips instead to show y'all something we've been happy to see:
The beach at Lake Lure is OPEN!
And with plenty of hot weather still hanging around Western North Carolina, this might be the perfect time for one more little beach trip.
The kids are heading back to school, summer is slowly winding down, and we've still got about a month before fall officially arrives. So why not sneak away for a day and enjoy a mountain beach that's only about an hour from Asheville?
Lake Lure has been through A LOT, and it's encouraging to see people enjoying the water and another piece of this beautiful little mountain town coming back to life.
Make a day of it. Hit the beach, cool off in the lake, then grab something to eat around town. Plenty of local eateries are open, and there are all kinds of other adventures and beautiful places to explore around the Lake Lure area.
Sometimes you don't need to drive five or six hours to find a beach.
Sometimes there's one waiting for you right here in the mountains.
Who's making a Lake Lure beach trip before summer is over?

People are traveling, gathering together, barbecuing, celebrating the 250th anniversary of this nation in various ways. And then we have this…
An American service member using his right to free speech, guaranteed in our nation’s constitution. A right given to all of us every day. Regardless of your political affiliation, read or watch Major Jason Watson’s full statement. It’s powerful. He has served and is serving. He is speaking up and out, and for that he was arrested.
Free speech, freedom of religion, a free press, the freedom to vote for who you choose, the freedom to love who you choose. These are all things we celebrate on our nation’s birthday. They are what makes us a democracy, among many other things. So as you gather, as you grill, as you plan your day, think of Major Watson, think of the freedoms you hold dear, and don’t just celebrate them, but make sure generations to come will have these rights as well! 🇺🇸
From Asheville to Hollywood: Margaret Qualley’s Big Moment 🏙️🎬
Asheville fans — did you know one of Hollywood’s most exciting young actresses grew up right here in Western North Carolina? Margaret Qualley, daughter of celebrated actress Andie MacDowell, spent much of her childhood in the Asheville area before pursuing dance and performance training across the country. She even studied ballet and theatre in her youth, laying the foundation for the powerhouse career she has today.
Now, as of early 2026, Margaret Qualley is in talks to star in a remake of the cult‑classic psychological horror film Possession (1981) — a project set to be written and directed by Smile filmmaker Parker Finn for Paramount Pictures, with Robert Pattinson producing. She’s reportedly eyed for the demanding lead role originally made famous by Isabelle Adjani, and Callum Turner is also in discussions to co‑star.
This marks an incredible moment for Qualley — whose range has already been seen in acclaimed work from HBO’s The Leftovers to Netflix’s Maid. It also reflects years of artistic growth that started right here in our own Asheville community.
Interestingly, Margaret’s connection to dramatic movement and performance isn’t totally new — she once captured widespread attention not through a film audition, but through a Kenzo fashion ad directed by Spike Jonze with choreography by Ryan Heffington, which went viral and showcased her remarkable presence on camera even a decade ago.
Though the Possession remake is still in early development and not officially confirmed for production, it’s generating buzz across Hollywood — and we’ll certainly be cheering on our Asheville‑to‑the‑world star every step of the way.
Stay tuned — this Western North Carolina story is just getting started.

You need to have faith in yourself. Be brave and take risks. You don't have to have it all figured out to move forward.

If the child on the left was old enough to pick cotton and the child on the right was old enough to attend Klan rallies, then today's children are old enough to learn about both of these and how they've led us to where we are today.
