Your home’s first line of defense against wildfires is Defensible Space. This applies to small yards too. This video breaks down three crucial zones to keep your property safe:
• Zone 0 (Ember Resistant Zone): The 0-5 feet around your home, where fire and embers can easily spread.
• Zone 1 (Lean and Green Zone): 5-30 feet of clear, fire-resistant space.
• Zone 2 (Reduced Fuel Zone): 30-100 feet of carefully spaced vegetation.
Don't know where to start? Focus your efforts close to your home and work your way out.

After spending weeks battling the devastating wildfires across Southern California, support programs are working to address the fatigue and mental health issues that many firefighters and first responders are facing.
Details: https://t.co/zk1w7LSb7n
Recent wildfires in Los Angeles County, including the wind-driven #HughesFire, have received a massive aerial fire suppression response.
Over 60 aircraft, strategically assigned or pre-positioned across Southern California, have been working tirelessly to protect lives, property, and natural resources. Since January 7, 2025, these aircraft have delivered over 3.1 million gallons of water and nearly 600,000 gallons of retardant to combat six major wildfires.
Under unified command, CAL FIRE, alongside, local, tribal, and federal partners, is leveraging every available resource to halt the spread of these wind-driven fires and protect our communities. In addition to the fixed-wing assets flying by day, night-qualified, water-dropping helicopters are in the air, allowing us to attack fires 24/7.
We remain committed to keeping you informed. Stay alert, follow evacuation orders, and stay tuned for updates.

Please retweet to help Harold find a forever home #WALES North #UK
Harold was rescued from euthanasia in a British council pound.
Harold is a dinky little terrier who’s only around 5 years old. Sadly, he was left on a site in a caravan when the people moved out. When he was picked up he was covered in fleas and ticks. It became obvious he has one eye missing and awfully docked tail!💔
Despite all this is he a little gentleman who hasn’t put a paw out of place since arriving. He did his seven days in the pound and came very close to being put to sleep as no one came for him. Thankfully we had a foster home free for him!
Harold has been a true gentlemen since arriving in our care. He has happily done everything we have asked of him. He is housetrained and sleeps through the night too.
This dinky lad is great with people and other dogs. Plus he’s good on lead too, he isn’t worried by traffic and travels well in the car!
At the vets he was a super star and allowed a full examination to take place, he is more than happy to be handled. He has passed a health check, started his vaccinations, been flead and wormed.
He’s booked in to be microchipped, neutered and at the same time they going to clean out the eye socket where his eye is missing and get that better for him. Thankfully not a big job and he copes perfectly well with one eye.
Harold is a quiet lad who loves the garden and all the sniffs. He is going to be someone’s best friend.
We feel he could live with or without another neutered dog, he could live with dog savvy children or in active retired home environment. As long as he is loved and gets his walks, he’s a happy lad.
Please share this sweet soul so he can find his happy forever after and finally be treated as a family member!

🔥 Critical Fire Weather Alert
Much of Southern California is facing critical fire weather beginning Monday at 10 a.m. and lasting through Tuesday at 10 p.m.
Strong winds and low humidities are expected to increase the risk of fire danger. One less spark means one less wildfire.
State, local, federal, and tribal resources - including assistance from out-of-state and international partners are still mobilized in the region and stand ready to respond to new initial attack fires.
Activate the “Red Flag” layer of the CAL FIRE incident page at https://t.co/672BA88S7T for the most up-to-date warning areas.
