Ever met someone you've admired and followed on social media in person?
Today I got to meet @drandrewb in the flesh, who does tremendous work helping others. Looking forward to collaborating in the near future.

Forcing supervised consumption sites to close will increase potentially fatal toxic drug overdose deaths in public spaces, like public transit.
Follow @TorontoOPS to learn how to respond to overdose. Today is a training day of action, with training locations posted at 9am.
Former Toronto mayors David Crombie and John Sewell put out a message of support for #SCS in 2016. Now, with 10 sites set to close, the pair felt it was important to show their support and rally together other prominent Torontonians to support #HarmReduction.

Thank you to this coalition of former Mayors and community leaders calling for a change in government direction on harm reduction. A principled statement based on evidence and expert advice. https://t.co/MrLzYYD61T
Thank you @TheGrindTO for this article by local parent Megan Kinch. OPINION: Closing Kensington’s Overdose Prevention Site Is Not About the Kids - The Grind Magazine
Every person struggling with addiction was once someone’s baby. They are someone’s loved one. They are deserving of compassion and care.
We deserve a government that does not turn its back on its most vulnerable. https://t.co/TRgzHNGUqG
“I am scared about what will happen to me and friends when they take away the consumption site. I am losing too many friends.”
These are the words of Jennifer, a client of the Kensington Overdose Prevention Site.
Jennifer was a speaker at a press conference I attended this morning to draw attention to a public letter signed by 200 faith leaders urging Premier Ford to keep the consumption sites open.
These sites are part of the solution of the toxic drug crisis, not part of the problem.
This is about showing humanity.

Let's be clear: this is not "involuntary care". This is not any type of evidence based treatment. This is prison.
He's talking about funding spaces in prisons: "If re-elected, Eby will create 400 involuntary care beds in prisons or detention settings".
Note that it was the victims, not the killer, who lived in the homeless encampment. When an apartment resident is killed do we empty the apartment complex? @MayorPaterson https://t.co/kSxiXMPjwf
RNAO President #NP@LhamoDolkar2023 voices nurses’ support for Toronto's Kensington Market OPS (@kmops_), one of the #SCS sites that will be shut down due to Premier @fordnation's decision, at the #SaveOurSites rally.
"The province announced new HART Hubs but do they have #HarmReduction? No. We need to meet people where they are at," says Dolkar.

Thank you @torontolife for covering this story. We can still change this direction and provide vital life-saving services AND create new housing and health care. @tngcommunityTO is ready to be part of the solution.
