President Trump has been throwing the Kurds under the bus for years
They don’t have the wealth of the Gulf Arabs
They don’t have the strategic importance of Turkey
But he should remember they defeated, at great cost, one of the most evil death cults in history
We are here at the US Congressional Helsinki Commission hearing on Syria, “Securing Syria’s Transformation by Diminishing Russia’s Influence.”
Advocating in Congress for the #SaveTheKurds Act with an ad hoc organization. Millions of dollars and much effort has been committed to lobbying and funding fleecing Congressmembers by Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and large companies who see an economic benefit.
It’s not easy for everyday Kurdish Americans and US supporters to go up against these mega-lobbies. But we are here with the truth on our side.
(Document).🇺🇸🇹🇷🔴
Today, @SenBlumenthal and I introduced the Save the Kurds Act.
I believe that there is strong bipartisan support for the idea of protecting the Kurds in Syria and beyond because they have been such a reliable ally to the United States. The SDF – with a large Kurdish element – took the brunt of the fight to defeat ISIS in President Trump’s first term.
I realize Syria is complicated culturally, ethnically and politically. However, attacking the Kurds greatly diminishes the United States’ standing and will hinder Syria’s ability to grow as a country.
To those countries or groups who believe it is open season on the Kurds in Syria without consequence, you will be sadly mistaken.

The Syrian city of Kobani is experiencing a severe humanitarian crisis as a result of a blockade by Syrian jihadist army forces and allied groups, which have created conditions bordering on famine and a catastrophic lack of food, fuel, and medicine.
For over a decade, Syrian Kurds have fought against ISIS terrorists, who are once again besieging them in Kobani.

Congressman Don Bacon stated that Kurds deserve their own state, maybe like Bosnia, Kosovo, Croatia, Slovenia, East Timor, South Sudan did?
Every people has the right to self determination regardless if they win or lose referendums. The Kurdish people has the same right...

Watching the deteriorating situation in Syria with great concern. The Kurds are under threat from the new Syrian government that is aligned with Turkey.
It would be a disaster for America’s reputation and national security interests to abandon the Kurds, who were the chief ally in destroying the ISIS caliphate.
Therefore, I will be introducing legislation this week designed to impose crippling sanctions on any government or group engaged in hostilities against the Kurds. The Save the Kurds Act, I believe, will receive strong bipartisan support and must have teeth to make it effective.
Stay tuned.
The Kurds are subject to being wiped out now by Erdogan and the Syrian al-Qaeda leader. Are we just going to leave them without help? They stood with us in fighting ISIS. They took heavy casualties. They are an ALLY.
Boycott Made in Turkey products!!!
Turkey’s economy is built on the repression, displacement, and ongoing war against the Kurdish people. Refusing to fund that violence is a small but meaningful act of solidarity. No normal trade with occupation, ethnic cleansing, and denial of Kurdish rights. ✊🏽
Never call yourself an Iranian Kurd, Syrian Kurd, Iraqi Kurd, or Turkish Kurd.
These fake states are occupiers that won't hesitate to genocide you, don't let them define your identity. Say it proud and loud: I am a Kurd from Kurdistan.
