One training camp I had severe pain in an area of a previous surgery. The team thought I was faking it despite zero evidence I’d ever done that and they wanted me to speak with their newly hired sports psychologist. “whatever you discuss won’t be shared”
Yea bullshit on that. They are being paid by the team and there’s are no secrets in that building.
Needless to say I skipped out on that opportunity and just called my person instead.
There will always be a deep distrust athletes have sharing personal feelings with team personnel. Maybe 99% do not share anything with their teams. But one story like this and that’s it. Trust is broken for a bunch of athletes.
But I do highly recommend finding your own life coach. We all need someone to talk to.
