My Dad is 84 now.

Worked as a janitor for years to support his family.

Traded everything to cover the bills for a wife and young kids (my siblings).

Never took vacations.

Never even complained.

So, fast forward a few decades later…

I get the chance to take him on a “vacation.”

You already know I maxed out the spending (business class, high end hotels, etc).

But it had nothing to do with the cost.

It had to do with the potential cost of NOT doing it now.

Let’s be realistic…

I spent years in law enforcement.

The most common thing I saw was people regretting not acting with urgency:

• Not being fully present.
• Waiting until things were “right.”
• Forgetting to tell family they love them.

Then the worst happens.

This has been my driving force to act like there’s no tomorrow.

It’s not scarcity.

It’s urgency.

Knowing there really is no tomorrow.

So if you’re on the fence about doing something…

F*ck it.

What’s the worst that could happen?

SCOOP: The suspect arrested for murdering off-duty deputy at Austin’s North Lamar nightclub is Thomas Vences — a repeat offender with four active felony warrants and 32 charges.

Vences was already a wanted fugitive when he allegedly shot Caldwell County Deputy Aaron Armstrong, who was working security at Club Rodeo early Sunday.

Vences’s 20-year record with Austin prosecutors:
• 38 total charges (including 6 today)
• 8 vehicle burglaries
• 2 home burglaries
• 2 felony family violence assaults
• 2 felony evading arrests with a vehicle (both reduced)
• 3 felonies reduced to misdemeanors
• 20 plea deals
• Every probation revoked
• 0 jury trials

Vences had been on the run since June after skipping court on a second-degree felony home burglary, two family violence cases, and a criminal trespass — all while already on probation for a prior home burglary.

U.S. Marshals arrested him Sunday afternoon with help from APD and DPS.

Thomas Vences cycled through Austin's courts for two decades. He exposed his violence again and again. Walked out every time.

He’s been charged with capital murder of a peace officer and is being held on a $2,500 bond.

Prosecutors had 32 chances to stop him.

Now a deputy is dead.
