@Scholars_Stage fwiw, "The Bear" (a novella in Go Down, Moses) was the first Faulkner I read, instantly fell in love, revisit it with some frequency.

@Scholars_Stage As I Lay Dying: a perfect novel, short & beautiful, has more of his experimental, modernist tendencies.

Go Down, Moses (somewhere between a collection of short stories and a novel): maybe a better introduction to how rooted he is in time and location, historical scale.

Ignoring the repetitive stem vs. humanities discourse for now, but "mathematicians don't use Euclid anymore" is a cliche in this debate. I'm kind of curious how many of that cliche-enjoyers would have genuinely benefited from Euclid as an introduction to math.

I genuinely think using Euclid for geometry would be vastly superior to the current system. Introducing kids to axioms and developing proofs (with relative simplicity) seems much better than memorizing contextless formulas.
