I wish Canada, Prime Minister @MarkJCarney, and all Canadians a Happy Canada Day. Ukraine joins you in celebrating this day. We appreciate Canada’s leadership in helping us protect the lives of our people across many domains: defense assistance, pioneering work on sanctions against Russia’s shadow fleet and financial sector, diplomatic advocacy, and much more. We are grateful that we can count on your continued support in all these areas. Thank you, Canada!
🔥 Russian woman burns down her own apartment for $550
A resident of Chelyabinsk fell for a scammer who promised her an insurance payout if she set fire to her apartment and recorded the whole thing on video.
During the arson, the man watched everything via video call and literally directed her actions. As the apartment started burning, he insisted that she stay inside.
“According to the procedure, we need to wait exactly five minutes,” he told her.
The recording captures the scammer repeatedly urging the woman not to leave the apartment, even as the rooms filled with smoke.
When she began struggling to breathe, she finally ran outside.
In the end, the apartment burned down completely.
When this war is over, and Ukraine is victorious and whole again, and every innocent victim, every fallen defender, every destroyed city and town is documented, let no one say they did not know. These Russian crimes against humanity are happening in full view in real time.
I’ve just written about something that doesn’t get enough attention, the Ukrainian diaspora in Canada, and the very real connection between communities here and the war back home.
From speaking in Edmonton to meeting the family of a fallen soldier, this one is personal. If you want to understand how this war reaches far beyond Ukraine’s borders, give it a read and share 🇺🇦

This is pure gold.
A Ukrainian fighter, posing as a “participant of the special military operation,” infiltrated a meeting where students of Kuban State Agrarian University were being recruited to sign contracts with the Russian army.
good rule - Vegas won't be able to come up with some insane "explanation" for adding some injured player who all of a sudden can play at the last minute.
Let's go!

The first-ever NHL playoff cap goes into effect now this post-season. But as Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly explained last month at the GM meetings, and confirmed again today, none of the 16 playoff teams actually have any game day lineup decisions which would put them over the cap anyway. Which presumably is a by-product of teams not being able to use the old LTIR loophole at the trade deadline to begin with.
