The Ayatollahs regime in Iran did not want the world to see the film "The Stoning of Soraya M", which exposes the unlawful execution of 35-year-old Soraya Manutchehri on false charges of adultery.
After she refused to let her husband to have a second wife, he accused her of cheating on him. Without any evidence or legal protection, she received capital punishment and was stoned to death by hundreds of Muslim men (members of her village).
According to Islamic law, the penalty for adultery is stoning to death. While men can claim that they had an relationship with their informal second, third or fourth wife, women are not allowed to have more than one husband. Every year thousands of women all over the Arab-Muslim world are murdered in so called "honor killing" on false accusations of adultery or for violating Islam's modesty laws.
