Spent approx. 2 years in #Auckland and thought I’d share some observations living there. Caveat: not everyone experienced Auckland the same way during lockdown, and am *obviously* generalising based on what I’ve experienced. Here goes 🧵
When I defended my Master’s thesis under the bombing and rubble of Gaza, the very first question I was asked was:
“Why defend it under these circumstances? What benefit will it bring you now?”
I smiled and answered:
“Maybe I will die holding this degree, maybe it will be a symbol of resilience and strength, and maybe I will inspire others not to abandon their dreams — even in danger, even when death is near.”
This is who I am.
I am proud of what I did.
Proud that I defended my Master’s during the war.
Proud to have become a Palestinian researcher ✌️
There's a common misconception that clothes made in the United States or Western Europe are "good" and clothes made in low-cost countries such as China are "bad." Let's talk about it. 🧵
BREAKING:
Israel has just murdered another Palestinian journalist, Saadi Mdaoukh.
Israel has now killed 162 journalists in Gaza in 268 days.
This is unprecedented in history.

“You are shredding the UN Charter” says the guy literally shredding the UN Charter and representing Israel that has breached and continues to breach the very purposes and principles the Charter was drafted to protect!
Take your silly props and leave.
