turns out, reading a lot, exercising, loving people without expecting anything back, protecting your alone time, focusing only on improving yourself, and sometimes staying out late with friends who make you laugh until it hurts is a pretty good way to live.
you can always tell when someone gonna be successful cuz they be blatantly different from everything else around them without even trying, the demeanor just be different.
I'm increasingly convinced that the ultimate sign of growth is faster recovery. You still get upset. You still make mistakes. You still have bad days. But you return to center faster.
Apologize faster. Reset faster. Learn faster. Fast recovery compounds.
The older I get, the more I realize the power of emotional consistency. The ability to show up as the same person when you’re tired, stressed, or under pressure. Anyone can shine when life is smooth. It’s rare to remain steady even when the day gives you every reason not to.
A mentor told me this: Learn the difference between peace and avoidance. Peace is choosing not to fight battles that don’t matter. Avoidance is refusing to face the battles that do. Real wisdom is having awareness of which one you’re doing in the moment. I’ll never forget that.
there's no right way to do shit. but there's always a kinder way. i lean toward kindness whenever possible and prefer to keep my distance when that is not an option .
