@BaldwinIVofJer@aslasoryu@CatholicFitz I’m a medical student and I do know a lot of couples practicing NFP. It works because they do it correctly and are very strict about it.
I’m not dismissing experiences of couples with irregular cycles but such issues aren’t that common.
@NewAntiquarian_@BaldwinIVofJer@aslasoryu@CatholicFitz In the teachings of the Church the NFP is completely OK and even the morally responsible decision in many cases like health concerns or financial issues.
Nothing speaks against not sleeping with another person when you’re not ready for a child.
@NewAntiquarian_@BaldwinIVofJer@aslasoryu@CatholicFitz “Marital debt” doesn’t exist. You can’t force your partner to have intercourse.
The couples practicing NFP are usually on the same page in regards of not wanting a child (yet) so it automatically becomes the responsibility of both parties.
@BaldwinIVofJer@aslasoryu@CatholicFitz Having one child after another is often a threat to the woman’s health. Some women also don’t react well to pregnancy.
It’s better for kids to have 2 siblings and a healthy mom than 6 neglected siblings because one parent is chronically ill and basically absent as a result.
@BaldwinIVofJer@aslasoryu@CatholicFitz I never said that the people where NFP “doesn’t work” aren’t equally responsible for the failure.
As a med student I can confirm that NFP will work if the couples learn the right info, don’t have hormonal imbalances or irregular cycles and practice discipline.
@BaldwinIVofJer@aslasoryu@CatholicFitz There’s always the possibility to not have intercourse too. It’s the more moral option to child neglect and irresponsibility.
No woman likes being threatened with poverty, undisciplined husband behaviour and health hazards (pregnancy and many childbirths) on the first date.
@CrimeofCritique A friend of mine said that ”immodesty” or in her words “dressing for the male gaze” is actually the sin of pride more than lust.
The more I think about it the more her statement rings true. It’s not always about attracting men but mostly about being desired or envied.
@CharlottexBear The age gap was a huge dealbreaker for me in this story. I would hardly consider this good “adult centered romance”.
I don’t know why some authors are allergic to making the female lead 30+ yo even when you have a 40 yo man as the male lead.
@tardwife4life As a heterosexual woman hanging out with almost exclusively heterosexual people I can confirm that it’s indeed a fetish and not all of us suffer from it.
Don’t try normalising your fetish by projecting it onto the general public. Learn to keep things private.
@tardwife4life It’s probably because they saw how their mothers live and concluded that their marriage was the problem.
There is also the possibility that they were parentified from a young age and are now “done raising kids”.
Women in trad religious societies are treated terribly.
@WerwulfFan Lilith was Adams first wife only in Jewish post-diaspora fairytales.
These have nothing to do with Christian canon and aren’t even connected to Christian traditional legends or folklore.
@BolainasB71297@DylanGTech@NCRegister The fields in medieval Europe were for everyone and the marked stalls were for women. Technically everyone “worked from home”.
It seems like you are projecting. Not everyone hates their job just because you do.
@BolainasB71297@DylanGTech@NCRegister I work with multiple surgeons and other doctors who have stay-at-home husbands. These people exist but you are not in their social circle.
Stay-at-home wifes can also be considered an unnatural lifestyle and failed social experiment.
