I notice people who read books spend a lot of time quoting other people instead of thinking for themselves. Books have the same defect as AI, television, and calculators.
@briebriejoy Fair enough Brianna, though I'm not really from anywhere else. However when people call me a new Yorker, and it happens, it's not on me to correct them.
@shagbark_hick@ccmembersonly Yes, the foreign power is capital, and its offspring, The Spectacle. It's where he gets his power and few really understand this. The only walls closing in are around us.
@briebriejoy Ugh, there will never be publicly financed elections, for the same reason there will never be sane Healthcare. We are run by the ethos of capital, it's in all our heads, and it controls many places besides Goldman Sachs.
@JacobAShell Pretty spot on, the beatniks were part of the death rattle of modernism though, and after the failures of the 60s, culture was wholesale incorporated into the ethos of capital. Yes, culture has long had an aspect of this, but it wasn't complete til late Warhol. Spectacle won.
@77_steeze Art has long been nothing more than a mirror for society. It upholds the value form completely now. Its only future is taking responsibility to rupture and transcend exchange, which makes all equvilient and all untrue.
@TomKlingenstein Capital is not conservative,
its the most radical hegemonic system ever seen. So good faith question from someone who sees some use value in conservative ideals, how can our current momentum ever produce a stable or human centered society? Don't say reforming electorilism.
@polen_ball They want to abolish imperialism… within capitalism
They want to abolish property in capitalism (thats happening anyway)
They want to abolish the state in capitalism (Anarchists)
They want abolition of capitalism within capitalism (Leftists in general)
Anything but communism
@Ne_pas_couvrir The radlibs who overly center race, gender and class, do so with the misunderstanding that equality is possible via redistribution, thats literally the opposite of Marx's thoughts. He clearly stated that equality was impossible, we are forced to be equivalent by the value form.
@Ne_pas_couvrir of nearly all things by the value form, is that ALL classes are instrumentalized, capitalist as well. We become cogs in a totalizing machine of production that make all equivalent in the name of growth. Imagination get reified, so science, tech, and development lose human input.
